Shane Pennington seems like more discussion on the Single Convention (1961) would be helpful in shaping present and future strategies w respect to de-scheduling or rescheduling of cannabis. I wonder what your thoughts are in the following areas: 1. How much influence does the SCND have on current U.S. federal policy on marijuana, despite the growing trend towards legalization at the state level? 2. How do you think the U.S. might be able to navigate its obligations under the Single Convention while moving towards federal marijuana legalization, considering the constitutional supremacy of domestic law? 3. Given the passionate arguments from the deschedule now crowd, what are the potential international ramifications for the U.S. if it chooses to unilaterally deviate from the Single Convention's provisions on cannabis control? #drugpolicy #cannabislaw #cannabisindustry #csa Holon Law Partners

Legalization is coming soon to Germany
Hundreds joined the annual cannabis legalization protest in Berlin before the cabinet discusses a draft law to overturn the drug ban. The Hemp Parade, advocating for cannabis law liberalization and medical access, attracted 500-600 participants, down from last year. Germany plans to legalize cannabis, allowing possession and personal cultivation. Health Ministry believes this could save over €1 billion yearly. The proposed law faces criticism from judges' association and police union, citing burdens on law enforcement and bureaucratic complexity. Free Democratic Party also critiques the plan. The draft may change during Bundestag debates. How do you think will this impact neighbouring European countries? #CannabisLegalizationGermany #HempParade #DrugLawReform #ProtestForChange #LegalizeCannabis #GermanyCannabis #CannabisAdvocacy #DrugPolicyReform #BerlinProtest #CannabisRights #CannabisAdvocates #SocialChange #HealthJustice #PolicyDebate

Craig Small is featured in Bloomberg Law, Shifting Tides: The #DEA's Proposal to Reschedule Cannabis and Its Far-Reaching Implications. Excerpt: From an economic standpoint, the proposed rescheduling could serve as a catalyst for growth within the legal cannabis industry, fostering increased investment, job creation, and tax revenue generation at both the state and federal levels. However, this transition also poses a litany of challenges, particularly for businesses operating in states where marijuana has been legalized but remains prohibited under federal law. The incongruity between state and federal statutes underscores the exigency of broader legal reforms to mitigate regulatory uncertainties and promote industry stability. In terms of states' rights, the potential rescheduling of marijuana may prompt states that have hitherto abstained from legalization to reevaluate their policies, while concurrently galvanizing efforts towards federal legalization or decriminalization. Recent legislative proposals such as the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act and the Strengthening the Tenth Amendment Through Entrusting States (STATES) Act exemplify this burgeoning trend towards reform. https://lnkd.in/g8M5r_79 #MOREact #10thamendment #STATESact
