1. Discover why they need you, what is their problem? 2. Ask questions in non-DB terms, do you understand the issue? Do they? 3. Explain in non-tech how you can fix the issue, the scope of the project, your pricing structure, and discover the timeline. 4. If that doesn't work, hire a salesperson, to find opportunities and bring you in to finalize the project. A good non-tech and a great tech can make a very strong team.

"PHONE DODGERS?" Great...a new phobia for a new generation in the workplace. It seems only yesterday (actually decades ago) we were training "secretaries" how to properly answer the office phone, and how to play back the tape recording of last night's after-hours calls. Now everyone has a phone and we have employees who have never NOT had a phone and who are on it nonstop texting, ticking, twicking, tweaking or whatever they do, but are too scared to answer it. Are they also too scared to sell? Too scared to trade? Too scared to pitch? Too scared to close? It would seem that if you are afraid and unable to use the tools of your work that you are simply misplaced in the workforce.
