These talented interns include Dalia and Sundus, high school juniors who are sharing their skills and energy on The Minneapolis Foundation Talent and Culture team. Our thanks to the Minneapolis Foundation for being a dedicated long-time Step Up employer partner and introducing young people to great careers! Yesterday marked the conclusion of my internship with Nannette Nocon a private wealth advisor with Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from an industry professional with 40 years of experience. The support of Nannette and her team helped me flourish. Key Takeaways: 1. Prioritizing/Time Management: The early exposure to the difference between full-time work and school became evident. There can be more freedom within one work day, whereas school has a more rigid schedule. This internship taught me how to manage my time in a professional setting, and reprioritize as new tasks were presented. 2. Heart/Passion: Seeing first hand how passionate and positive Nannette was every day was so inspiring. It is true what they say about loving what you do and its impact on a person’s success. Seeing how love and energy Nannette puts into her meetings was amazing, pushing me to put my best foot forward. 3. Always ask questions: Nannette always said that the people with the questions tend to learn more than those with the answers. With that piece of advice, I felt empowered to ask for help or clarification throughout this experience. Asking questions enabled me to improve my communication skills. As I learned to concisely convey what I was struggling with, what needed to be accomplished and when. With this in mind, I was successfully able to collaborate with other team members to get tasks completed in a timely manner. I want to end by saying a huge thank you to Nocon & Associates. I will miss you all so much, but look forward to staying connected and seeing where my future goes!
Today we bid farewell to Mariel, Connor, Nina, and Catrina as their summer internships come to a close. Each of you have done outstanding work this summer! We wish you all the very best for the coming school year.

The future of our Re/Insurance industry is right before us. These rising juniors are in their second year of internships. Some may say I'm biased because not only do they represent the future, but they are also my nephews and godkids! Student Success Spotlight: 3 Questions with Carlton Nesbitt Meet Carlton who is currently Interning in Mooresville, North Carolina at the Lowe's Companies, Inc. Corporate Headquarters as a Market Delivery Intern This is what Carlton had to say about being in STS Enterprise Corporation “I definitely believe every student who wants to succeed and be the best professional possible should join STS. Not only does STS give you the skills you need to be professional, but you will meet coaches that will have your back and treat you like family.” What does it mean to land an Internship with a company like Lowe’s? “Landing this internship means that I can be successful in whatever I put my mind too. It is showing me that even though it may be hard trying something new, you definitely should push for new experiences and push yourself to be the best you can” How has being in STS Elite helped you personally? “STS helped me on my journey by pushing and believing in me. When I first started STS I was very quiet and to myself. They helped me open up and it worked out for the better. The coaches were persistent in seeing me succeed and giving me different tips, tools & advice to be the professional I desire to be. STS is really a family and they want everyone to get the bag and make excellence the norm.” Share some encouraging words in the comments for Carlton as he works to make himself, his family, and Memphis Proud #MemphisBestKeptSecret #WeDoThis #MakingExcellenceTheNorm ##TeamSTS #CareerExploration #CareerReadiness #MemphisYouth

Husband, Father, Son, Friend, Coach and Fractional Chief Revenue Officer | Breaking Sales Barriers and Scaling Businesses from 1M to 100M
The first week of summer vacation for my kids is here. We're gearing up for summer camps and activities. This time of year takes me back to my college internship, where I ran sports camps for the local YMCA. We started and ended each day by reviewing the core values: Caring Respect Honesty Responsibility. We would talk about these as we opened the day, and at the end of the day, we would ask if anyone saw any of the campers displaying these behaviors. Those who did were rewarded with a little prize and a round of applause. If organizations reward and recognize core values, they will continue to permeate through the organization. Think about what behaviors are being rewarded and emulated and which ones you want to be magnified.
