I was reading a job description for a Field Education Coordinator and I was trying to figure out how the social work degree program expects this hire to provide quality service to their social work students in field. It is not possible.🤯 As a Micro Social Worker, managing 30 clients can be a lot especially if they require a high level of care and multiple touch points. Think about this…🤔 A field coordinator has 30 students who are planning to participate in field this semester. 30 students asking questions about field in preparation prior to placement (and some students will need support with brainstorming and identifying placements because they work full-time during the day) 30 emails sent out to get signed learning agreements (and follow-up emails to get signatures for the students or placements that aren't as responsive) 30 site visits twice per semester for monitoring At least 10/30 are going to have challenges at the field placement so now they are problem-solving All of that is enough in itself, managing a caseload of 30 students in field placements.👆🏾 On top of all of that they are also expected to be a Macro Social Worker: ➕ Research and identify new potential placement opportunities for BSW & MSW Students ➕ Maintain and monitor an updated database of students and agencies in the Office of Field Education ➕ Ensure compliance with all Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS) regarding field education ➕Collaborates closely with the legal office to develop placement contracts that comply with the #CSWE and the school ➕Attend and chair conferences for student success ➕ Schedule and manage Field Instructor Supervisory Training twice yearly to community agency field instructors ➕Prepares yearly scheduling for all field functions The coordinator has a dual role, they are being a Micro Social Worker and Macro Social Worker. If putting too much on you than you can bear was a person.😌 Social Work Degree Programs, let's schedule your complimentary discovery call to discuss your organization’s needs and concerns: https://lnkd.in/eezGXJzd #highered #socialwork #socialworkers #socialworker

Meet recent BSW grad and former NASW Intern Liz Buttler in our last grad spotlight! What are your post-grad plans? Grad school at UW Madison to further my knowledge on macro social work. What advice would you give a student who wants to study social work? Don’t be afraid to take the risk. Many students go in knowing they want to help others but the lower pay stigma becomes deterring. Social work is meant for everybody who has the heart and will to help others become the version they see themselves becoming, we are that guiding hand. Take the risk and explore the profession; there is so much you can do with in it ! What do you love most about social work? The ability to grow. There is never a single person who knows it all, and social workers acknowledge that. We work with professionals who are experts in areas we need and are given the opportunity to continuously learn in our career. Social work allows growth in years to come, with a fantastic community backing you up!

Advocate for Culture change | Coaching | Training and development | Mentoring | Mental health Peer support group facilitator
Interesting! One query I would have is the requirement to work outside the county for one of the placements. I believe this could be an amazing opportunity for people who would like to retrain and give back in the middle years. Family and life commitments would not work with this for many. With the requirement to move outside the county you could be loosing alot of amazing candidates. Food for thought. Your thoughts? #momlife #womensupportingwomen #community #selfcare #mindset #coaching #health #lifestylemedicine #mentalhealth

Exploring Licensed Clinical Social Work Careers Highlights -Social workers work in every aspect of life, from birth to death, with individuals, organizations, and governments. -To qualify for an LCSW, your student would need a Master’s in Social Work. An undergraduate degree in social work is not required, though it can help build foundational knowledge and set them up for success in the graduate program. -Begin with the end in mind when considering social work as a college path and career, as it will take additional time in school, which costs more. -A doctorate is not required to work in social work unless your student ultimately wants to work in research or academia. https://buff.ly/3SnQqr5
