Russia approves veterinary certificates for dairy and fish exports to Kuwait According to the report, Russian enterprises for the production and storage of animal products interested in supplies to Kuwait must undergo an examination and be included in the register of exporters MOSCOW, July 11/ Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), together with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition of Kuwait, agreed on veterinary certificates for the export of dairy and fish products, as well as honey and beekeeping products from Russia to Kuwait, the agency reported. "Rosselkhoznadzor has agreed with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition of Kuwait on veterinary certificates for the export of milk and fish products, as well as honey and apiculture products from Russia to Kuwait," the statement said. The agency noted that Russian enterprises for the production and storage of animal products interested in supplies to Kuwait must undergo an examination and be included in the register of exporters. It is a great measure of success that aquaculture uses so few medicines – but is it healthy that there are so few available to us? The VMD product information database has 4,936 entries for veterinary medicines (2721 if you remove the post-Brexit duplications!), of which only 19 products are available in the U.K. for salmonids! Of these, only 2 are fully licensed antibiotics for fish (one or two others may be occasionally usable on the veterinary cascade). All food producers are quite rightly under pressure to do everything to reduce their medicines usage, but this pressure impacts newer species sectors much harder, as we haven’t yet had the time to develop as many medicines as the long-established sectors. Should this be recognised, and more importantly, incentivised at policy level to promote best health outcomes for aquaculture? Last week, the Korina Association for the first time filed a request for the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against a veterinary inspector in Montenegro. The request was submitted to the Director of Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs Directorate, Mr. Vladimir Djakovic, under which the veterinary inspection has been operating for several years now. Namely, the Association filed a request against a veterinary inspector from Podgorica due to her negligent and unprofessional conduct in carrying out inspection supervision and unconscientious attitude towards the job she holds in the civil service during 2023 and early 2024. We note that in performing inspection supervision, an inspector is particularly obliged to act legally, promptly, and in accordance with the code of ethics for civil servants. In a country that already faces a shortage of official veterinarians, we believe that any conduct by veterinary inspectors that is not in line with the above-mentioned standards is unacceptable and must be sanctioned. We expect a reasoned response regarding the detailed request, which the Director of the Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs Directorate has already been somewhat familiar with, based on which we will decide on any further steps regarding this request. Portugal can now export fresh poultry to Israel Portugal can now export fresh poultry meat to Israel, but all processes carried out in this first phase will be reviewed after the "regularisation of the political situation" in the country, according to the General Directorate of Food and Veterinary Affairs (DGAV). "As part of the authorisation of Portugal and its operators to export fresh poultry meat to Israel, DGAV extends an invitation to all interested operators". Until January 19th, operators who want to enable their establishments to export to this market must communicate this to the respective DGAV regional services. 📌 Simplified procedure for harmonizing marketing authorization application for 6️⃣ groups of veterinary medicines! On March 13, the Eurasian Economic Commission's Board approved the draft decision of the EEC Council "On amendments to the Rules regulating the circulation of veterinary medicines in the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union". SysReforms International on July 23, conducted a refresher training on the biobank inventory management system developed for the National Reference Laboratory for Poultry Diseases (NRLPD). This system, the first automated laboratory management system in Pakistan, was introduced to appropriately store and manage data of bacterial isolates for future research and development. Developed and deployed in November 2022, the refresher training sessions were not part of the contract deliverables. However, in line with SysReforms' commitment to project ownership and sustainability, we agreed to conduct these trainings.
