DAOs and individuals primarily stake their assets across #POS mechanisms for the SECURE #yield they generate. Here are the top 10 yield products from DeFi Lama - • STETH (Lido): $35.24 billion • BTC (Just Lend): $6.404 billion • WEETH (Ether Fi): $5.5 billion • WSTETH (AAVE): $4.5 billion • RETH (Rocket Pool): $4.26 billion • WBETH (Binance Staked ETH): $2.62 billion • WSTETH (Spark): $2.207 billion • WBTC (AAWE): $1.96 billion • DAI (MakerDAO): $1.893 billion • METH (Mantle Staked ETH): $1.73 billion Interestingly, over 80% of the top yield products are related to Ethereum's POS system. Restaking provides additional incentives on top of the original staked yield, enhancing overall returns for stakers. Builders on Ethereum tend to stake ETH, as it is the bedrock of the entire EVM ecosystem. Isn't this analogous to how US Treasuries are foundational to the traditional financial system. Ethereum POS yield products can be compared to treasuries based products in the TradFi fixed income space due to their foundational role and perceived stability. As ETH staking strengthens Ethereum, it also poses significant risks of centralization within the crypto yield space. The space is already highly centralized with one project dominating more than 70 percent of the TVL. In TradFi, there is a cyclical shift between treasuries and other asset types depending on market conditions. Similar dynamics are yet to be seen in the crypto space. Healthier alternatives in crypto are still emerging. Projects that currently stake for the attractive ETH yield may seek to withdraw substantial amounts if the yield declines significantly. A key question remains: where will all the staked capital go if ETH yields approach zero? The movement of such large sums could significantly impact the crypto market. #ETH #POS #Yield #Treasuries

After Ethereum's transition from PoW to PoS last year (known as the Shanghai Hard Fork), a completely new market emerged. To validate Ethereum blocks, you have to stake 32 ETH. That's a pretty big sum for the average crypto user. That's why Liquid Staking Derivatives (LSD) have popped up. Protocols like Lido or Rocket Pools allow basically everybody to participate by grouping ETH deposited by users and staking them in 32 ETH packs. LSD quickly emerged to a size of 28 billion dollars of Total Value Locked, securing the biggest computer in the world. But let's not forget about institutions that see the growing potential of ETH as an asset. For them, securing 32 ETH is much more affordable. Here, Kiln comes in handy, offering the possibility of staking directly on their platform or through API. This is super handy for custodians or exchanges that can directly offer staking services to their customers (Coinbase cbETH or Binance WBETH). The Giga Chads from Kiln haven't stopped at ETH but offer a variety of assets from Solana to Tezos. They have also built an SDK to help their clients display all staking statistics and metrics. Klin also offers a set of automated smart contracts that help with distributing staking rewards. A quick dive into their documentation makes me feel they are also positioning themselves in an emerging Restaking Narrative. 2024 will be a year of Ethereum and hopefully institutions also see this.
