The storming of the Kenyan parliament and the ensuing violence, which tragically resulted in casualties, underscore the urgent need for meaningful dialogue between the government and its citizens. As professionals, we must recognize the socio-economic pressures driving such actions and advocate for policies that balance fiscal responsibility with the well-being of the populace. The call for transparency, accountability, and a responsive government is louder than ever. #kenyaprotests#youthvoices#economicjustice

First, thank you Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki for organizing this event. You are a star amongst our Ambassadors and the Tanzanian diaspora appreciate you personally and your team for the efforts.
Second, I wish the government of Tanzania would explore an easier route to restore and preserve birthrights of Tanzanians who took up citizenship abroad. The easiest path is through amending the current Citizenship Act. Adding a single sentence—“If you are born in Tanzania or elsewhere to a Tanzanian parent or parents (jus sanguinis and jus solis), you will always be a Tanzanian citizen.” Adding this sentence to the current Citizenship Act will solve the entire problem.
Doing so will allow native Tanzanian nationals to retain their citizenship rights without changing a miriad of laws. The diaspora will be subjected to existing laws that all local Tanzanians are subjected to.
It is difficult to implement a Special Status because it requires the changing of many laws. Just to give you a few examples, there will be a need to change immigration laws, land ownership laws, investment laws, marriage laws etc. Tanzanian Nationals with abroad citizenship are considered foreigners in their own motherland. Thus, many laws have to be changed to accommodate them.
Dual citizenship for the diaspora through the preservation of birthright is the cost effective route and covers everyone. This will not allow people without birth or blood ties to Tanzania to acquire dual nationality. Only native Tanzanian nationals will be able to do so.
The Tanzania constitution already allows dual citizenship (article 5(2)a and article 67(2)a). Furthermore, the Constitution has already put restrictions for Tanzania Nationals with foreign citizenship prohibiting them from voting rights (voting and to be voted in for political positions).

10 days to go till #Ramadan
You still have time to check-in with your Muslim colleagues in terms of what support they’ll need during the 30 days of fasting.
Small gestures go a long way, here’s a few things you can do ahead of Ramadan which will be appreciated by your Muslim Colleagues:
🌟Be pro-active and approach them and ask what support or adjustments will be helpful for them during Ramadan
🌟Wish them “Ramadan Mubarak” on the first day or during Ramadan! This always makes me happy to see when people around me remember and acknowledge I’m fasting
🌟Be conscious of putting in early morning meetings, as alot of Muslims will be praying late night prayers and then waking up for “Sehri” (breakfast) 3/4am so might not have had much sleep (and then don’t forget having to do the school run for us parents too)
🌟 Be aware of scheduling late afternoon brain intensive meetings as energy levels will start to reduce by this time due to lack of water & food
🌟Be thoughtful around arranging team lunch / food related events during the daylight hours as this will exclude any Muslims observing Ramadan
It’s an exciting & super special time for Muslims across the world - this year will also be difficult as we reflect on the ongoing genocide in Palestine affecting people who will be fasting but won’t have food to open their fast!
As a colleague checking in and supporting your Muslim colleagues will really help to foster an inclusive culture 🌙
