If you’re looking to make effective and on-going cost efficiencies in your NHS organisation, you need to get the fundamentals right. We worked with an NHS Trust to get their cost improvement plans back on track by getting them to start with improving and implementing a structured CIP process with clear targets, timescales, governance and structures. We encouraged them to set up a process to hold CIP projects managers to account for their work streams and provide additional support when needed. We helped them put in place regular meetings, standardised reporting and created agreed agendas. And we encouraged them to ask the difficult questions, including those around partnerships and whether these benefitted the Trust, their patients and where financially sound. They now understand how their CIP aligns with their transformation and turnaround plans which will enable them to identify and implement further cost efficiencies, with your on-going support. Make sure all licenses are updated and Owner/managing employee information is accurate. 2. ODM is providing training now on the implementation of Claims Access & Prior Authorizations in the PNM that goes live 6/30/2024. In addition, there will be PNM downtime beginning June 28th at 5:00 pm - June 30th at 5:00 pm. This will impact the Provider Network Management module and the Fiscal Intermediary. During this time, the Provider Network Management module will be unavailable, including direct data entered fee-for-service claims and prior authorization submission functions. From December 2023 to January 2024, I collaborated with four other students of Southern New Hampshire University to assume the role of consultants. We researched how acute care hospitals and rehabilitation facilities are reimbursed, the regulations related to acute care hospital admissions, and admitting processes used by other rehabilitation facilities. We explored the type of staff other healthcare institutions are using to perform the admission process and the electronic processes available for insurance verification and authorization to expedite the transfer and admission of patients.
