Hello everyone! Just an update about the #HappierOutdoorsFestival. As some of you may know, the Festival will be held across #GreaterLondon from 18-27 March 2024. Its aim is to raise awareness of the #health and #wellbeing benefits of connecting with #nature on your doorstep. Charitable, grassroots and government organisations throughout London are invited to take part by opening their doors or leading nature-focused activities. We will be promoting the Festival both to the general public and to #SocialPrescribing #LinkWorkers. We hope this will lead to increased uptake of #GreenSocialPrescribing and #BlueSocialPrescribing and increased support from decision-makers. If your organisation delivers nature-focused activities in Greater London to help people’s health and wellbeing, we’d love to have you involved! You can take part on as many or as few days as you want. You can either create special events just for the festival or advertise something you’d be doing anyway. You can lead an activity, or simply welcome people to a natural or growing space.  We just ask that the event is free to the public, takes place in Greater London, and fits the values and aims of the festival (you'll get more guidance on this when you sign up). Natural England will support you with free publicity material to distribute in your local area, as well as helping promote your events on social and traditional media. One of the great things about being involved with special places like CentreStage and River Garden Auchincruive is that I get to meet many inspiring people. One such person is Niall McShannon the Managing Director at Langloch Farm @ CCI, a charity supporting people across Lanarkshire who face a range of challenges and inequalities. Niall has just introduced me to a wonderful initiative by a coalition of third sector organisations, the aim of which is to make decision makers, policy formers, budget owners and people of influence throughout local, regional and national government realise that things have to change. For the past few months, I have served as Good Work Austin's interim executive director. It has been an incredible experience, and I am in awe of the work our board and staff accomplish every day with limited resources. That is why I am raising $1,000 today during Amplify Austin. Our Vision is for a healthier Austin connected and uplifted by the local food and beverage community. We foster healthy careers in the local food and beverage industry through professional development and advocacy for more equitable practices. Our four major programs are: Healthy Workplaces: Brining workplace development training into GWA Affiliated businesses, including DEI, Harassment prevention, and other training. Culinary Training:  We provide paid training for individuals who want to end the food and beverage industry and provide the Healthy Workplaces training, assist participants in getting their food handlers license, and place them into quality, local, well-paying jobs with our members who promise to pay a fair wage and provide benefits. Good Work Austin Community Kitchen (GWACK): Aims to create a meaningful paid opportunity for businesses to provide meals to Austinites in need, including as an emergency response. GWA Membership: Bringing together locally owned food and beverage businesses owners in community building, resource sharing, and advocacy. If you can donate just $10, you are providing one meal for our community kitchen. If you are feeling super generous, a gift of $1,500 pays for a person to be trained in our culinary training program. A gift of any size makes a real, direct impact in our community.

We collect on Behalf of Soles4Souls, Women Giving Back (Sterling VA), BThrifty (Woodbridge VA), Second Chance Toys, Brother’s Brother Foundation, and Leveling the Playing Field (Silver Spring MD) For most of the last decade, we have been especially fortunate to have been able to support Community Empowerment Northern Virginia (Sterling VA) in several ways. But most significantly by transporting over 5 truckloads a year of toys from Toys4Tots to our local community on behalf of CENV. We are very proud to have earned their 2023 CENV Humanitarian Award this year! Our next big delivery is coming up on December 18th and we anticipate as many as 7 truck loads!
