It is unprofessional, dishonoring and you look bad more than the guy/gal charging a higher price! Be responsible in business! Unless you have attended their event, you do not know what value they are truly offering. Celebrate your event, give great value and move on! People are no longer going to events to sit through sessions. You should move those online. Some organizers are worried that if you do that content online, nobody will come in person. The irony is events that embrace a content-first model for in-person... they're struggling to sell tickets. People want face time. They're going for networking. They're going to swap war stories. Within those eggs are the visitors to trade shows that organisers are waiting to hatch for their next event. Okay, back to reality and apologies to Dudley. The fact is that many exhibitors act as if the above were true. What do I mean? They don't promote their presence to the buyers in their database. They rely on the chance to meet people who walk by their stand. File that under strange but true. Instead of boring elevator pitches, why not give people a memorable impression with these bonkers yet effective networking strategies. ➤One word: Costumes. Ditch the suit and tie and go to your next networking event dressed as a dinosaur, or maybe even as Darth Vader. Who's more memorable, really - Bob the accountant or Bob the T-Rex? ➤ Networking Bingo - create Bingo cards with industry jargon and terms.
