I’m officially out of afterglow phase mode and back into build mode for Utah Tech Week and Convoi Ventures. I think there’s 4 key problems to improve w/Tech Week and I’d love your thoughts. The survey data + my convos w/folks backs up my intuition. There’s also 3 things that people bring up that I think are non-problems, and I’ll tell you why, but that’s later. I have no data to back these up, but I think I'm right. :) 📆 First is fix the database of events. It needs to be: - Searchable (event type, audience, topic, location (more on this later) - Taggable - Very quick to update with new events - No/low cost (this is a grassroots festival after all!) - Very low friction to access On our end, we need to gather emails and ideally demographic info. Would love to hear your ideas here as well as during our brainstorm session tomorrow (Wednesday at 4pm). Location tbd still! Lmk if you want to join if you haven't already in the previous post!

And there you have it... my first 4 weeks running Beynd completed ✔️ I've learnt so much in this short space of time, not only how to run and operate a business but about myself, my core strengths and limitations On reflection, this first month has been filled with all sorts: - Power cut at home 5 minutes before I'm due to meet a CEO on video for the first time 😵 - My lil dude timing his sleep regression perfectly, he's ready to party at 4am 🤠 (is it to early to get him making some cold calls?) - Educating myself on marketing, engineering and product focused roles to expand our offering 🧐 - Deciding to get out of the house and head to a co-working space for the day, I arrived without my laptop 🤡 A couple of these hiccups aside, what a first month it has been... I've received a ton of support (a lot of this from people I barely know), got a load of exciting opportunities with brand new businesses, booked my first face to face meeting with a client for after the Easter break and probably the most exciting news... there will be a new face joining Beynd early May 🚀🚀🚀 Here's to a productive month 2 🔥 Have a brilliant Easter break 🐣 #startup #recruitment #beynd #technology

It's time to go public. We aim to be able to help all Web3 founders worldwide and raise TX to the next level: TX 3.0. It also means we're going into fundraising mode in addition to, of course, continuing our services with existing and upcoming customers. Web3 is maturing after hype, and future unicorns are building now. Many still need to catch up, but TX has been building utility-based projects for half a decade. We have the team, the ecosystem basis, the tools, the processes, and the track record of helping Web3 founders become success stories. For scaling, we are building something novel: an Internet-Native Organization (TX 3.0) to support the ecosystem of builders. We invite investors, ambassadors, domain experts, and other Builders to join us in enabling the ecosystem's growth. Ping me, and let's discover together what could be your role. Why TX 3.0, or what the hack is an INO? It's a long story. Stay tuned or ask for our whitepaper to discover more.

Serial entrepreneur, inventor, engineer, designer. Innovation junkie + champion of ignored problems/users.
Final reminder! I really hope to see a bunch of you tonight at mHUB to talk about the future of software in the context of hardtech. If you write firmware, it might feel really obvious… But if you build mobile apps or do data science or product management, you might not even know just how relevant your skills are to the future of the physical technology!!
Serial entrepreneur, inventor, engineer, designer. Innovation junkie + champion of ignored problems/users.
For years… Chicagoland software folks coworked & event’d our hearts out, both startup and corporate alike. The pandemic changed things … personally it wasn’t until I was back at mHUB that I felt like I had community again. Well, I want you to consider mHUB as YOUR community too, and come hang out with me at the NEW sun-drenched “innovation castle” 😎🧑🔧👨🔬👩💻🏰 in Fulton Market on 10/25 to learn more about what/how I mean. I’ll give a quick rally cry at 6pm followed by tours of the facility, with much networking & goodies in parallel. Why? I’ve heard from many of you that the flat dimensions of working on SaaS or mobile — often from a spare bedroom — is starting to drag … but there is delight in the IoT and hardware evolution that relies on software to succeed. And there’s also delight in community and ENERGY. Yes, the hardtech world NEEDS you, software folks! Come as you are. Software engineers, designers, product managers, data scientists, and cybersecurity folks…… meet your hardtech counterparts and preview what community could look like for you here in Chicago!

Data powers our insights, community fuels our potential. We're just coming down from the incredible first ever MDS Fest. The goal was simple: bring the data community closer together, and provide a platform for folks from all over the world to share their ideas, insights, and inspirations. With thousands of attendees, 59 speakers, 46 talks and 25+ hours of content, I think it's safe to say the goal of building community was met, and exceeded! An incredible amount of engagement and excitement from the community has been energizing us since the conference ended. We believe fostering a strong sense of community can go beyond conferences and partnerships. It's about creating connections, sharing experiences, and empowering one another - which is why we're excited to open up our office space to all of you - our incredible data community! Let's keep the community building momentum going, and send me a DM or drop a comment if you're in the Toronto area, whether you're here all the time or just for the day. We'd love to host you at Secoda's office in downtown Toronto, and exchange ideas over coffee, hang out in person, and get to know our community a little bit better. We're also hosting a meetup in Toronto on September 6th, reach out through DM or comment here if you're interested in coming through - would be great to see some familiar and new faces. #dataengineering #mdsfest23 #mdsfest #toronto #moderndatastack #secoda #airflowsummit

Co-Founder & CEO at So Syncd I Fast Company top tech startup to watch I "The next big thing in dating" - Forbes I INFP
Thank you, Nasdaq, for interviewing me about how changing your mind can be the best business decision. So Syncd now looks nothing like our first business plan. From acquiring users to resource allocation, we are constantly experimenting with new ideas and adapting our strategy. One of the best pieces of advice that prompted us to change our minds came from Ryan Brodie (you might have seen me mention him in other posts—he's a great mentor!). Conventional wisdom for dating apps says to build your user base first and focus on monetization much further down the road. But Ryan advised us to monetize sooner rather than later. At first, we were hesitant to make such a drastic change to our strategy, but I can confidently say that we wouldn't be where we are today without this adjustment. Having a source of revenue has enabled us to spend less time fundraising and more time focusing on building a company that is aligned with our vision of helping people find meaningful connections 💘 https://lnkd.in/eUr634CJ

Taking a break from work and visiting Kennedy Space Center was an enlightening experience. Witnessing the accomplishments of properly motivated individuals has reminded me of the power of drive and determination. As a software developer, I've made it my mission to rejuvenate legacy software and make modern life easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Rebuilding outdated software is one of the hardest things to do in software, but hearing JFK's words, "We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard," has reminded me that hard things are worth doing. The drive of the human spirit to conquer challenges and achieve what seems impossible is what makes us great. #KennedySpaceCenter #DriveAndDetermination #SoftwareDevelopment

When launching Polartern, we faced a significant dilemma: a) Go the incognito way, or what they call 'build in stealth'—which, honestly, felt a bit too secretive for our taste. b) The second option was to build in public, the very path we ultimately chose. Why build in public, though? While the saying "Work hard in silence, let success make the noise" has its fans, we decided to take a slightly different approach: "Embrace Hard Work Loudly, Celebrate Success Quietly." This philosophy suits us because, as travelers building for travelers, we represent a community that values the journey over the destination. And nothing is stealthy when traveling. You embrace each and every moment. Just like we embrace the addition of the newest member to our Polartern family: a gifted product designer (who prefers to remain incognito for now, by choice) who will infuse our app with fresh creativity and energy. Nevertheless, we'd be lying if we didn't admit that deciding to share this small milestone was challenging. But that's exactly when we reminded ourselves: "Jo dikhta hai, woh bikta hai." (What is visible, sells xD) Stay tuned as we continue our journey, building in public and sharing every step with you. And yes, Safe travels!
