Co-Founder and former CEO at Nomad Health; Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medicine

After nearly nine years, I have stepped down as CEO of Nomad Health and passed the reins into the capable hands of my friend and partner Justin Lambert. There are many sensational chapters ahead for Nomad, and Justin is an outstanding leader to take the company forward. Now as a board member, I am excited to help Justin and the stellar Nomad team continue transforming the healthcare workforce and the tools that drive these vital professionals. Nomad has been a stimulating, busy, stressful, and rewarding journey all at once. It will take time to reflect fully on this incredible decade of my professional life. But this is already certain: I am lucky to have worked with so many wonderful people to make such an impact. Over the last 9 years, Nomad put tens of thousands of doctors, nurses, and allied professionals at the bedside of millions of patients in thousands of facilities across all 50 states and DC. It is an awesome privilege to know our hard work touched so many lives. We also revolutionized an antiquated industry. We brought it online, developed cutting edge technology, and championed new clinician-centered values. Our once “out there” ideas are now the industry mainstream. No wonder our better mousetrap grew faster than any staffing firm in the last 5 years, doing nearly $2 billion of business since inception and still counting!   This was possible only because of the scores of outstanding people who joined this ride. There are too many to list here, but please know that all of you who touched Nomad mean so much to the company and to me. It has been thrilling to watch you grow this company, yourselves, and me. I deeply thank my co-leaders, who have been stalwart partners: Justin Lambert, Liming Zhao, Jeff Simon, Justine Lelchuk, Chris Cheng, Maquel Shaw, Ming Lu, Trent Godard, Arjun Krishnamoorthy, Dennis Campagna, Kim Howard, Jess Compagnola, Anne Walker, Bill Eager, Alexandra Roseman, Tracy Kettler, Valerie Gale, Marc Lombardo, Joe Lazarus, Rebecca Gross, Julianna Ward, and Radhika Sen. Your brilliant ideas, superb execution, and emotional fortitude made Nomad a success. Locking arms with you gave me strength, and I learned so much from each of you. I am so grateful to the investors who bet on Nomad and me. Chris Fralic, Raju Rishi, Payal Divakaran, Liam Donohue, Brian Chee, Thomas Mawhinney, Thomas Bremner, Garheng Kong, Melissa Buckley, you each invested a lot more than dollars. You shared wisdom and helped me form, adapt, and succeed as a first time founder/CEO. I hope to draw on your guidance for years to come. I will end where this started: my amazing co-founders. Maxwell Laurans, Ryan Grant, Zander Pease, I am so proud that we birthed Nomad together. Kevin Ryan, I am forever grateful for your inspiration and coaching. Banding together with all of you is easily the best decision I made on this journey. Thank you all for this exceptional chapter. I am excited for what’s next, but first: my first summer break in 25 years!

Alexi, it was an absolute honor and pleasure working with you. One of the most treasured experiences of my life was the great work we did at Nomad Health. I'd never worked for a more transparent, intelligent, quick-witted, and caring CEO before and it was incredible seeing how far and fast a company can grow/go under amazing leadership. Thank you for that opportunity. One of my favorite encounters during one of my NY office visits: Greeted by you with a big smile and a "Hey Joe I didn't know you were coming into the office!" Me: "Yeah I just kinda creep in and creep out sometimes." You: "You know... you don't need to creep you can just be." Was a good laugh, raised those endorphins, and I knew that was going to be a great trip to the Nomad World HQ.

Alexander Nazem , there are too many words; however, ‘gratitude,’ is the one that rises to the top. Thank you for being the leader and human that you are.
