Senior Recommendations please: One of my close connections and founder is closing on a nine-figure funding round over the coming weeks to position them as a global leader in their respective field. The next stage of this business is to identify a Chief Scientist to not only naturally shape direction and scale Research and Applied teams; but more importantly face off to investors, create value propositions and bring a network to the table. If you know anyone who would be interested, please DM me - one of few, genuine opportunities for generational wealth creation I've seen over the last few years.

In discussions with a fellow investor, I often explore the topic of deep tech and material science investments, areas notably dense with scientific and academic detail. A question frequently arises: without a degree or master's in science, how do I navigate and evaluate such complex fields? This question has prompted me to reflect on my confidence in assessing what might seem, to some, as impenetrably "science-y" ventures. I will (most likely) never grasp the science to the extent of those with advanced degrees. However, I focus on what I can understand deeply and evaluate effectively—like the teams behind these innovations. What constitutes an exceptional founder? Does the team exhibit a blend of academic prowess and commercial acumen necessary for success? Is there pivotability in their idea? (Did I just make that word up?) Essentially, does the concept resonate on a fundamental level, making "common sense" based on trends and growth areas identified through diligent research and reading? This approach has served me well, underscoring that while the science may be complex, the principles of good investment can still apply. Recognising a balanced team, a flexible idea, and the practical application of a concept are key indicators of potential success, regardless of one's personal expertise in the field. This reflection is a reminder that diverse perspectives enrich the investment process, and a scientific background is just one of many lenses through which to view potential opportunities. #diversityintech #Diversityvc #diversityinthought

Our team at Innosphere Ventures runs the full gamut in terms of background and experience. For many of us, Innosphere isn’t our first rodeo. We’re navigating our second, third, or even fourth careers. Others are young researchers building a foundation for what will become their life’s work. From seasoned experts to undergrad and postgrad research associates, we are united by our shared vision for positive, impactful change. As a COO deeply invested in the success of both our mission and our team members, it’s my job to ensure that our research associates understand the weight of their role. They aren’t just navigating projects; they’re architects of the work products they create, maintaining ownership at every step. While our senior team members and I are here to provide support and guidance, the true growth lies in their ability to stand behind their work and cultivate skills in the real world. Because they aren’t just gaining experience; they’re building their futures - and the future of our client companies, as well. Many leverage the projects they spearhead at Innosphere as powerful testimonials in their career journeys. We’re transparent about the rigor of our expectations, but also about the unparalleled opportunities for personal and professional growth within our walls. The range of experience levels at Innosphere is our greatest asset - it ensures that every team member does meaningful work that matters to them, and pushes our mission forward in the process.

Industry expertise is overrated - for founders. They need to Know enough to know how every party is incentivized within an industry is what really matters. Finding a unique market insight of what’s wrong with the industry isn’t enough, but combining that with better aligning with desires can be rocket fuel. I’m not lessening the years of experience that people have - I think it’s so valuable. But just as important is obsession about the industry Once traction is seen - you can attract the experts because you’ve likely unlocked and identified something that others have brlieved for years but couldn’t get their corporation to take action on it #Landons_Thoughts #Expertise #GetToMarket Note: There are some exceptions … their industries reauure expertise in order to get a product to market (expert CTO, expert Engineer, expert scientist, etc).

The Power of Concall Transcripts in Equity Research 📊 As an equity research enthusiast, I've come to realize the immense value of reading concall transcripts. Here's why you should make it a habit too: 🔍 Uncover Insights Beyond the Numbers: Concall transcripts provide a wealth of qualitative information that can't be found in financial statements alone. You'll gain deeper insights into a company's strategy, challenges, and future plans straight from management. 💬 Hear it Straight from the Source: Listening to the tone, language, and nuance used by executives can reveal a lot about a company's true state of affairs. This can help you spot potential red flags or opportunities that the numbers may not fully capture. 🧠 Understand Management's Mindset: Concall transcripts offer a window into the thought processes and decision-making of a company's leadership. This can inform your assessment of their competence, vision, and ability to execute. 🔍 Identify Key Themes and Trends: By analyzing concall transcripts across an industry, you can identify emerging trends, competitive dynamics, and broader market shifts that may impact your investment thesis. 🤔 Ask Insightful Questions: Reviewing past concall transcripts can help you formulate more thoughtful and targeted questions during the next Q&A session, allowing you to uncover even more valuable information. So, the next time you're conducting equity research, make sure to add concall transcripts to your toolkit. It could be the edge you need to make more informed and profitable investment decisions. 🚀 #equityresearch #concalls

I'd be wary of anyone who builds industry cachet by being blindly anti-anything without any consideration for potential applications or demonstrable progress being made in that specific area. I've built my career pursuing novel innovations in mobility and have witnessed first-hand how the flattening of nuanced technology into binary "this-or-that" debates has thwarted innovation while funneling resources toward this investment season's sound bite of the week, resulting in endless cycles of hype and crash. I'd encourage my thought leader pals to find a few key areas of interest that they have the bandwidth to engage with meaningfully rather than fueling the hype and crash cycle with unfounded sound bites related to everything under the sun. We can do better than this.

We cross paths with many unique individuals everyday but the ones that contribute to our growth & are willing to invest their time in us, we've got to keep them close. I have been blessed to learn from many mentors, one of them being Nasha Abu Samah whom I've had the pleasure to exchange ideas with over the past 8 months. We discuss work, personal growth & investments. Yes, people! Find yourself investment gurus! One of the advice I remember most is about adding value at work. This also applies to families & communities. As a valuable member to the team, we've got to start thinking "How do I add value to my team?" We should use our strengths to complement our team's gaps. And if everyone in our team does that, our team will be UNDEFEATED. If you've come across individuals who have empowered and supported you, let them know.

It is a common question, and to answer is not shameful. Why does one have a gap in their career that can expand a year of time, and sometimes even more? It may seem counterproductive to do something of this sort, but is it not counterproductive to be within a company and find yourself falling behind with the technologies as they never stop advancing? I brought this insight to personal growth into a document to share with all.
