Here are things you can do: 1) Do you have a business plan or a business case? Reddit has a business plan that still hasn't turned a profit in 25 years, LOL...However, OpenAI has a business case, and they are now indispensable and insulated from downturns. 2) ABM - Always be MARKETING - If you're not getting action on the 100s of calls a month that you're making, then why don't you stop? LOL. I have a strategy that puts a giant dollar sign in front of the target...I will make you $100MM, save you $100MM, or relieve you of a $100MM in headaches, LOL. 3) CREATE - Last month, we were down 40%...Admittedly, it was mid-cycle. However, no market, media, or person handcuffed me from making phone calls. Even though the narrative was "it's not possible," guess what? I created $2.2MM in revenue in July...When everybody else is speculating, I am dialing. 4) MONEY AT WORK - I meet smart business owners all the time. However, they know little about their future financials or funnels; they only talk about revenue and EBITDA...Well, guess what? It's really hard to sustain revenue when you don't have future money at work, LOL. You need to build a funnel list of new leads every week. I add $175,000 in new revenue a week. #CASH my FLOW (How to negotiate upside) Every millionaire on earth has upside...Everyone else has these cookie-cutter market packages that some recruiting firm made up, LOL. The first thing you need to do is establish that there is upside before interviewing. If the firm won't pay you for hitting home runs and you're a home run hitter, don't interview. Here is how I coached a Gekko-type verbatim: Upfront - I am bringing $100MM - I don't want to get paid crappy market. I want a piece of the pie. Instead of giving me the $1.25MM cash average guarantee for an MD in investment banking, give me a $500K base and 5% of the cut. This way, I make $5.5MM, and you get $94.5MM. If you don't pay me this, I could burn your $1.25MM with no incentive to produce. This is a win-win, and if I don't produce, I only cost you $500K. Succession HOPES this HELPS YOU.
