This posting is about pace. Years ago, during my corporate days, I would be really stressed when my team or counterparts were unable to follow or match my working and learning pace. I used to say "Slow sangat ni", "My grandmother can work faster" or throwing rhetoric questions like "You expect to complete this by next year ke?". Fate decided that I am granted a son with learning disabilities. Anas, my second boy out of 3 boys, was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) with speech delay and social challenge. He can't even read at the age of six years old. It hit me hard that it is me who need to match his pace. It is me that need to learn to live in his world rather than forcing to normalize him to live in my world. Alhamdulillah, I never regret the decision to reduce my life pace. Yes, taking less job and minimizing travel have major impact on financial and career prospects. Do I miss having higher purchase power? Driving those continental car? Corporate dinners while having expensive meals? At times, yes. Will I decide the same if given the opportunity to turn back time? Hell YEAH. Hence, I am really looking forward to next week "Pengukuhan Eksport PMKS melalui Penghubung Pasaran" program in collaboration with SME Corp. Malaysia to share with Malaysian exporters on the criticality to understand the pace in expanding to Indonesia market. On the second day of mentoring by Kak Rafli 🌟 I am Shela Prima Afiyani, an undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor's degree in medical science from the faculty of medicine at UPN Veteran Jakarta. I want to share our experiences on the second day after day one of mentoring. The second meeting occurred on Wednesday at 7.30 pm. Our meeting starts with the chit-chat first. Kak Rafli randomly picked the members and asked them about activities they did this week and gave the ratings. All of their answers refer to assignments because we got a lot of assignments from the university and even the faculty. The next section was an explanation of the material "How to Adapt, to Be a New Student". The first content was academic adjustment. The first insight is about time management because it is one of the crucial things we should manage when entering the university environment. The tips are to create a list schedule, know our priorities, and avoid postponing tasks. Further, we should know about our suitable lifestyle learning to be more effective and have good strategies, like recording the elucidation from lectures, choosing a cozy place to discuss, and finding a study group. The other information was class participation, being active, and building a good connection with people. Next, we should boost professional branding by creating LinkedIn accounts and CV, joining organizations, volunteering, UKM, KSM, and ORMAWA. Therefore, we can get experience and have additional hard and soft skills. The second content was our behavior when meeting new people and building a good relationship, tolerating our different cultures. The third content was how to maintain our body healthy either physically or mentally. He also informed us recommendation an affordable food court at the limo and Pondok Labu. The fourth content was tips to keep ourselves able to work-life balance. Then tell us some tips to manage our finances. Kak Rafli also tells the attitude and rules for chat lectures with the example picture. We ended our meeting with the documentation. For this opportunity, I am glad to hear insightful information with tips and tricks so we can increase knowledge, and implement the tips and tricks when officially university students. A cool yet, surreal kind of feeling to have it available to travellers internationally. I also wanted to share what I've found to be some benefits of having a book published.
