Exciting news from the HR Tech Festival Asia 2024! Our very own Country Director of BCGE and President of ASEAN Human Development Organisation Myanmar (AHDO Myanmar), Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win, recently participated as a distinguished panelist at the "𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐭, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭: 𝐄𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧." It was expertly moderated by Dr. Bob Aubrey, Managing Director of Bob Aubrey Associates and Founder & Chair of the Advisory Board of AHDO, explored key themes such as linking human development with branding in sustainability, the unique human development mission of state-owned enterprises in ASEAN, and the changing landscape of finance and human development within ASEAN's capitalist paradigm. Our Country Director shared valuable insights on how diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices within private sector workplaces in Myanmar can serve as a blueprint for regional inclusivity. Her contribution highlighted the importance of ethical strategies for human development managers and their impact on people, planet, and profit. Joining her were esteemed panelists Mr. Daniel O’Connor, Chief People Officer of ALBA Group Asia, and Mr. Yulius Bulo, Operations Director of Pertamina Foundation. Together, they explored how private sector enterprises can integrate ethics and strategy into their operations while fostering human development. In the past decade, Indonesia has seen the most improvement among Asian economies in deepening its talent pool, according to a report by INSEAD. The next 10 years will be a period of acceleration, as recognition at the policy level that the basis of Indonesia's future growth lies in its talent is unanimous and unassailable. But... "Over 70% of its labor force are in low-paying sectors like farming and construction, according to a separate report by HSBC Holdings Plc. President Joko Widodo is betting on a downstreaming push to create jobs and upskill local workers." ...there is more work to be done as it relates to workforce formalization and participation particularly among women, skills building and equitable access to education and employment.
