Global Perspectives — Songkran, also known as the Thai New Year Water Festival, is a vibrant celebration observed annually in Thailand and parts of Southeast Asia. While its origins are rooted in Thai culture, Songkran's joyous festivities and spirit of renewal resonate globally, symbolising the arrival of the traditional Thai New Year and the rejuvenating power of water. During Songkran, streets across Thailand come alive with exuberant water fights and lively processions. People splash water on one another to symbolise washing away the past year's misfortunes and welcoming blessings for the year ahead. It's a time for family reunions, temple visits and acts of generosity and goodwill. As Thailand and other parts of the world observe Songkran, they embrace the values of joy, renewal and community. Across cultures and continents, Songkran reminds people of the universal desire for new beginnings and the joyous spirit of celebration that unites us worldwide. At Santa Fe, we are focused on the movement of people—helping them integrate into new countries and communities. We enjoy sharing the fascinating nuances of the places where we help people work, live, and thrive. International relocations work best when people have a global mindset and a grounding in local systems and societies' cultural traditions and sensitivities. “It's not that obvious to decide how to measure quality of life, so the fact of having a global Quality of Life Initiative that will give us global indicators to the quality of life and then the ability also to localize it...we make sure that we have a standard way to measure it...and a faster way to implement the #SDGs and the #Agenda2030 of the United Nations.” In our last Expert Group Meeting in New York, Zakaria Oulad 🌍, City Counselor from #Agadir, #Morocco, emphasized the need for a standardized way to measure #QualityOfLife globally, while also localizing metrics to include additional indicators that are unique to the local context.

Why You Should Move To Cambodia | It's a Beautiful Easy-Going Country I arrived in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh, in late December 2021. I had no idea what to expect — my expectations were low after spending 3 disappointing years in Bali. I came to Cambodia at the time as it was the only country in Southeast Asia that opened its borders for international travel while the pandemic was still ongoing. The government had the foresight to make it easy for international travelers to enter, unlike its neighboring countries, which still upheld quarantines or complicated and expensive procedures. I’ve now been living in Cambodia foe 22.5 years and I have no plans other than staying. It’s the best country I’ve visited and lived in. I’ve lived in 7 countries on 3 continents over the past 4 decades. I’ve also traveled to many other countries for business or pleasure. I believe that qualifies me as a seasoned international traveler and an experienced expat. My Cambodia Uncovered Story So Far I’m not close to finishing exploring Cambodia — I’ve only scratched the surface to better understand the country and its people. That’s the main element of establishing a successful and happy life in any country —understanding its culture, practices, traditions, how things tick, and how to interact with people. You can only function well as an expat in any country if you grasp and practice those basics. Unfortunately, many expats worldwide don’t bother — instead, they remain in their bubbles with each other and don’t care about the country they’re living in or how its people see them. And that’s why expats are often unpopular, particularly in Southeast Asia. Next on my exploring calendar: Sihanoukville, the Islands, Mondulkiri Province, the mountains of Mondulkiri, and the elephant sanctuaries. I can only strongly recommend you visit Cambodia soon. You will not be disappointed! Rob MBA from Robert Kennedy College & University of Cumbria, UK. TOP 10 Drawbacks of Living in Thailand It's been more than 6 months since I moved to Thailand from Mongolia and some acquaintances and friends of mine imply with a little streak of envy, that life in Thailand is akin to staying in paradise. I would like to debunk this myth and expose the harsh reality of Thailand life being far from a walk in the park, ain't easy and hard to cope with at times, by highlighting 10 major drawbacks of Thailand living... 1. THAI FOOD IS TOO DELICIOUS & CHEAP Might gain weight easily 2. THAI PEOPLE ARE TOO NICE Impossible to find a reason for putting up a fight, even if you want to 3. TOO MANY HISTORICAL, NATURAL & SPIRITUAL LANDMARKS Hard to choose where to go on weekends 4. THE CLIMATE IS TOO WARM, NO HARSH SEASON CHANGE Deprived of pleasure of shopping for expensive warm clothes and shoes and dressing up for 30 minutes before going out from home 5. TOO MANY AFFORDABLE INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS Hard to pick a vacation destination 6. TOO MANY EXPATS FROM VARIOUS COUNTRIES & ENGLISH-SPEAKING THAIS Not challenging enough to make friends, lack of motivation to learn Thai 7. THE ECONOMY IS DEVELOPING TOO FAST Hard to catch up with all the economic growth and investment opportunities popping up here and there 8. THAI BAHT IS TOO STABLE Not interesting to speculate on the forex market 9. POLITICAL SITUATION IS TOO CALM No wars, no uprisings, no ethnic and religious tensions, borrrring... 10. SOME REAL ESTATE PROJECTS ARE JUST TOO GOOD Hard to refrain from buying excellent property in perfect location with high ROI such as Larimar Villas by Athena Developer Co., Ltd Hope I have proved to you well enough that Thailand life is far from being all sunshine and rainbows 😁 #humor #thailand #life #realestate #lifestyle
