HAMBURG — When RGN journalists first tried the Meridian single-aisle economy class seat from Collins Aerospace (formerly B/E Aerospace) several years ago, we were blown away by its comfort features including impressive legroom even in snug layouts. Fast forward to this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, and the RTX subsidiary has unveiled Helix, its newest generation of main cabin single-aisle seating which incorporates “elements of widebody comfort and novel design approaches” to accommodate new and emergent generations of narrowbody air travel. With Collins boasting three key pillars for Helix – comfort, reliability and sustainability – we were very eager to engage in some claim-testing at its stand. There we found that Helix offers more comfort even in high density configurations whilst tackling emerging trends in IFE and in-seat power. Full story: https://lnkd.in/esFVGHf8

Ph.D. University lecturer at Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management Helwan University | EX Cabin Crew | Former Protocol officer to the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The smart plane of the future has the potential to smooth cabin operation and improve the passenger experience in numerous ways such as smart overhead compartments, futuristic smart seats, smart dimmable windows, smart services, and Zero- Touch entertainment screens with 4k clarity. This study aims to evaluate passenger satisfaction with the current aircraft cabin interior in EgyptAir and investigate factors that influence passenger discomfort in the aircraft cabin. Furthermore, to explore how passengers perceive the "smart cabin" in addressing their discomfort issues as well as its influence on enhancing their comfort during the flight. The results indicate that passengers are satisfied with the current aircraft cabin in EgyptAir; however, they reported some discomfort issues that influence their convenience during flights. Moreover, the majority of passengers showed their interest in using the "smart cabin" and its impact on enhancing their sense of comfort. https://lnkd.in/eEhUcCEW

How does this have ANYTHING to do with lighting???? 🤔 Actually, more than just that the planes have lights on. If you have a facility or a customer who has a facility that still operates non LED products, they will be experiencing the same financial conundrum as the Greek air force seen here at #riat. The F4 Phantom (Top Image) is an iconic aircraft that has served the Hellenic Air force well. This aircraft is expensive to replace with the F16 Viper as that costs $70 Million Dollars Each. The F16, (Bottom Image) is far more capable than the Phantom but the Hellenic Air Force have been slow to change this over. This is also true with the running costs. The Phantom costs $38,000 per hour to run (factoring in the lack of availability of spare parts) whereas the Viper only costs $22,000 per hour. It makes so much commercial sense so why do the Hellenic Air Force still fly the Phantom?? Its the same problem with industrial facilities, the end user could save so much energy on their lighting, but the upfront costs to replace it seem enormous. This is where Intulux can help, we can provide you with a full payback calculator to make the cost savings and carbon emissions reductions stand out making an upgrade to LED very attractive. We will find the right solution for your application saving you money in the process. #lighting #lightingdesign #lightingsolutions #airtattoo

Great discussions at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2024! Our VP, Connectivity, John Wade, was part of a #PEC2024 panel on innovative investment models for inflight connectivity. He explored solutions for a better passenger experience and airline success. Key takeaways: ➡️ The industry must push for a seamless in-flight experience where information and entertainment cater directly to customer needs. By integrating connectivity with seatback systems, we can personalize messaging, offer real-time updates, and curate content that keeps customers engaged. ➡️ The days of generic airplane advertising are fading. Just like on the ground, passengers expect relevant and engaging content. We must move towards "content-specific advertising" that resonates with individual travelers. Want to learn more?
