This is an absolutely wonderful innovation that will also benefit many people with severe neuropathy. Thank you, Anthony J James, for sharing. I wish they had invented this custom-made shirt with magnetic buttons over a decade ago to help my late beloved, who had severe neuropathy in his hands and could not button his shirt. He was not allowed to put on a T-shirt under his suit coat because he was the supervisory interpreter for US District Court, District of NM, and had to follow a dress code. I tried velcro strips at first, but they did not hold too well. Then it dawned on me that huge snaps would be strong enough to close the shirt. Therefore, I bought the two largest size snaps available from Hobby Lobby. Then I painstakingly hand-sewed them onto three dress shirts for him. Not being a professional seamstress, I had a pretty difficult time sewing them in such a way as to camouflage them under the fake buttons on the outside. He finally had three beautiful dress shirts with very convenient snaps that were big enough for him to handle. When viewed from the outside, they looked exactly like "the real thing." If you know friends or family with similar problems, please feel free to share my idea with them. Thank you kindly!

I also agree that this has wonderful benefits to help a diverse population that enables easier buttoning (shirt, pants, bags, etc). To continue this energy, I think it is equally important to have a good solution for cleaning these clothes. I can see these magnetic buttons sticking to the inside of the washer and dryer drum, potentially preventing proper washing and drying. I'd love to see innovation that allows for easy use AND care of clothes with this feature.
