Sustainability, Climate Risk and Finance

Great news for Latin America and the Caribbean. Today #Brazil was announced as one of the First Country Partner of the Industrial Transition Accelerator (#ITA) an initiative supported by Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ). The #ITA and the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services announce partnership to help catalyze investment in green industry in Brazil. All their work will be supported by the Brazilian private sector where they launched a call for expressions to identify #decarbonization projects from the #realeconomy and particularly from the heavy-emitting sectors like: #aluminium, #cement, #chemicals (including fertilizers), #steel, #aviation, and #shipping. “Curbing carbon emissions in heavy industry is crucial to tackling climate change, and Brazil is well positioned to help lead the way,” said Mike Bloomberg, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Climate Ambition and Solutions, Founder of Bloomberg L.P. and Bloomberg Philanthropies, and #ITA Co-Chair.  “For too long, the decarbonization of heavy emitting industries has been held back by insufficient demand for greener products, regulatory barriers, immature technologies, and the absence of large-scale transition finance,” said Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance, #GFANZ Co-Chair, and #ITA Co-Chair.  Learn more here 👇 https://lnkd.in/eMNdMBpR
