More auto-related manufacturing jobs in Alabama! Samkee Corp., a South Korea-based Tier-1 automotive supplier, has opened their first US based plant– and correctly chose Alabama as the place to do it. The $128mm production facility, located in Tuskegee, AL (about 40 miles east of Montgomery on the I-85 corridor) will employee over 170 people at full operation, and will supply parts for Hyundai Motor Company (현대자동차)'s Montgomery, AL assembly plant. “We are excited to have our first U.S. manufacturing footprint here in Tuskegee. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲,” -- ChiHwan Kim, CEO of Samkee Corp. Leave Well. As I end week 2 since my departure from the MOD, I consider all the reflections I've had and how they shape where I go next. Leaving well (psychologically) is very important and for me leaving well is a combination of having choice, recognition and a sense of having made a difference. I have left well and some of the comments on my leaving card, which is in my kitchen, remind me every day that I made a difference. What is on my dressing table is a additive manufacturing model of HMS Excellent that a team member made that I look at and smile and nod and fist bump because I had a vision and it became a reality and they embody it. These past two weeks have been super busy, with stuff I have chosen to do, so no Eisenhower matrix choices of what to delegate or delete and spending proper time with friends and colleagues, face to face, has opened up a host of unexpected doors. It's so exciting. I've experimented with my quiches - not a euphemism and my leek, bacon and goats cheese concoction is 10/10 So today I am positive, fulfilled and looking forward to continuing to be a part of things that excite me. One of those is collaborating with Allan Goody to set up a UK Chapter of Council of Logistics Engineering Professionals (CLEP) but more on that in the new year. In the meantime I refer to Noam Chomsky: “Optimism is a strategy for making a better future. Because unless you believe that the future can be better, you are unlikely to step up and take responsibility for making it so.” Merry Christmas You Filthy Animals 🎅 🦌 🎁
