"Foundations allocated less than 4 cents per $100 of their total giving to U.S. trans communities and issues." -- 2021 Tracking Report: LGBTQ Grantmaking by U.S. Foundations It's been 3 years. What do you think has changed since then? The truth is, I don't know for sure, but I highly speculate that these 4 cents have not increased significantly, if at all. Point of Pride is unique in that our largest fundraiser each year comes directly from the community we serve. In just 2 years, we've seen over 70,000 individuals from the trans, nonbinary, gender-diverse communities, and our allies make donations, averaging $44 each. This community-driven funding constitutes a significant portion of our annual budget, supporting our 5 direct-service programs. I'm grateful for any person, company, or foundation that recognizes life-saving gender-affirming care as a fundamental right for all trans and nonbinary people. As we move into the second half of 2024, I hope to see this support grow rather than shrink, despite the challenging political climate surrounding transgender healthcare and access rights.

WHY IT MATTERS:
Thrilled that M&T Bank is supporting the Equality Community Center with $20,000 to further their mission and important work. We look forward to partnering with the ECC throughout the year and making a difference in our community! The Equality Community Center (ECC) in Portland is the first of its kind in Maine - a collaborative workplace for LGBTQ+ and allied social justice-seeking non-profit organizations while also serving as a community center for Maine’s LGBTQ+ community. My colleagues Mike Ross, Isaac Yeboah Yeboah, Katie Rooks of M&T Bank, and Wilmington Trust's Jerry Weidner of Wilmington Trust enjoyed a tour and presented a $20,000 donation to the ECC. “The funds from The M&T Charitable Foundation will support our efforts so we can continue to provide a space where everyone can be their authentic selves and thrive.” - Chris O’Connor, Executive Director, ECC Board

LGBTQ+ led and serving organizations are chronically under resourced. According to Funders for LGBQT Issues’ Grantmaking by US Foundations Report, for every $100 awarded by US foundations in 2021, only 28 cents specifically supported LGBTQ communities and issues; foundations allocated less than 4 cents per $100 of their total giving to trans communities and issues. These numbers are alarming, but they speak to the lack of investment in LGBTQ+ led and serving work - Which is why organizations like ours are so reliant on community donations! Please join us in making a meaningful impact on the lives and futures of systems-impacted trans and queer people this Give OUT Day! https://lnkd.in/gzupHnkN

Today is last GIVE OUT DAY by Horizons Foundation, the only national giving event for the LGBTQ community. Did you know that according to Funders for LGBTQ Issues, for every $100 awarded by U.S. foundations in 2021, only 28 cents specifically supported LGBTQ communities and issues. This is just one reason why organizations like inclusion tennessee are reliant on gifts and donations from people like you to help sustain our work. Pride Month is coming very soon, and as we close out Older Americans Month this month, we are raising much needed funds for our Studio Fifty programming for LGBTQ+ older adults in Middle Tennessee. We know that health and wellbeing, economic security, and social connections are among the cornerstones for successful aging, yet these are areas in which many LGBTQ+ older adults face substantial barriers—stemming from current discrimination as well as the accumulation of a lifetime of legal and structural discrimination, social stigma, and isolation. Despite these challenges, many LGBTQ+ elders have survived and even thrived, while others struggle with the burdens of poverty and social isolation. The programs at inclusion tennessee in partnership with Fifty Forward are dedicated to addressing the social isolation, stigma and structural discrimination faced by this growing population throughout Middle Tennessee. Your support today during #GIVEOUTDAY will help us build on our programming planned for the remainder of 2024. We are currently looking to raise $3,000 before midnight tonight. Would you be willing to help us with a contribution to continue to expand this work? https://lnkd.in/eBf-PhDP

Today our we presented the results of our LGBTQIA+ survey. Some worrying statistics which show that prejudice and harassment still exists. Part of the purpose of the survey was to discover how we at Citizens Advice Gateshead might be able to help. We discovered that while 68% of respondents knew about Citizens Advice only 37% knew what sorts of services we provide. Then sadly 45% of respondents weren't sure if they would be comfortable coming to see us for information, advice and guidance and from the comments we surmised that people were worried about their confidentiality and being "outed". So our event today was timely and we had some really good conversations with our guests including Fighting With Pride - LGBT+ Military Charity, AKT and Pride in Mind about what the next steps might be. One of our first next steps is our dedicated drop-in for LGBTQIA+ people which is taking place Sunday 1st October between 10 and 2. If you'd like to know more about our project or about the drop-in then please drop me a message. #lgbtqsupport #inclusivespaces #pride

This was truly a heartwarming and delicious fundraiser and a huge thank you to Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet for approaching us this Spring and asking us, ‘How can we help?’ It was as simple as that. ‘How can we help?’ At the time New Brunswick was going hard on rolling back gender identity inclusivity in schools, not a unique trend unfortunately. Students in Ontario and Nova Scotia are also struggling around feeling unsafe. In speaking with school administrators, LGBTQ2+ students and Cis-Straight students here in Nova Scotia, we are living in polarizing and challenging times. Trans rights are human rights regardless of age. So what does 107 donuts mean in my world 🍩 ? Well, for every $1.50 per 🍩 donated to Simply Good Form Inc. I said for every $15 raised, I’d donate a copy of my inclusive children’s book The Pink Balloon, curriculum-approved for all grades, along with an inclusive schools read classroom party pack including activities, lesson plans, Pride bracelets and stickers to a school in Nova Scotia. It looks like I’ve 7 + a bonus school party packs to distribute! I’d love to hear from folks on schools you think might love one of these packs! And in other big news, The Pink Balloon has been translated to French and we’re moving towards an audio recording soon once we find our community voice! Visibility, representation, open minds and acceptance - keep it top of mind, with a willingness to engage, if you’re prepping someone going back to school in a few weeks. #equityandinclusion #beyondbinary #traininganddevelopment
Throughout the month of August, 107 Pride Donuts were sold by Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet in support of our Inclusive Schools Reads program. ❤️❤️ With the funds raised, we will be able to supply local schools with 8 Inclusive Schools Reads classroom party packs including: The Pink Balloon books, an activity guide, stickers, and other tools for educators to use to raise visibility about transgender people and break down stigma around gender identity/beyond binary thinking! A huge thank you again to our friends at Schoolhouse Gluten-free Gourmet for their ongoing support 😊
