BREAKING NEWS! Indonesia’s infamous Tomohon Extreme Wet Market in North Sulawest, Indonesia has officially banned the dog and cat meat trade! The historic agreement between the last six remaining dog and cat traders and animal protection organizations was signed and the dogs and cats were rescued from the market before they were killed for food. This notorious market is an epicentre of Indonesia’s cruel and dangerous dog and cat meat trade; the cruelty is obscene and the public health risks from open slaughter are unparalleled. The agreement permanently closes and ends all trafficking, slaughter, and sale of dogs and cats, and it will also disrupt the supply network of dog and cat thieves and traffickers on the island of Sulawesi. Investigations have suggested that more than 130,000 dogs + cats are slaughtered at Sulawesi markets every year. RESCUING ANIMALS IS NOT A CRIME…IT IS OUR MORAL OBLIGATION! Americans don’t want to see prosecutors use their resources to put animal rescuers in prison. Recent polling data showed that over two thirds of Americans do not believe it should be a crime “to take an animal out of an environment where they are being mistreated.” 73% of Americans agreed that “Animals deserve rights, including the right to shelter, food, water and humane treatment. If these rights are violated, people should intervene.” Currently, prosecutors in Wisconsin are working to put three animal rescuers in prison for rescuing dogs from Ridglan Farms, a laboratory breeding facility. They go to trial in less than 2 weeks. 69% of Americans indicated that they do not believe that it should be a crime to remove dogs from cages inside of a facility that is breeding them for experimentation. Prosecutors in Sonoma County, California are currently trying to charge a DxE animal rescuer for saving four chickens from a transport truck at a Perdue slaughterhouse. 65% of Americans indicated they do not believe rescuing chickens from a transport truck should be a crime. All states have laws that broadly prohibit animal abuse and neglect, but most limit the extent to which such laws apply to animals raised for food. A minority of states have enacted legislation designed to specifically protect animals on farms. However, meager enforcement of such laws has limited their effectiveness. AWI surveyed each state that has enacted on-farm animal protections to determine the extent to which such laws are being enforced and what factors might contribute to stronger laws and better enforcement. Some Law Regarding the Cody Roberts incident ⚖️ As properly noted by Animal Wellness Action , there is nothing in the WY law exemption provision for a "predator" wolf that is applicable to the torment and torture of the wolf 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜. Roberts binding the wolf's mouth, his return home with it, and his ongoing torment and torture of the animal, both at his home and in the bar before shooting it dead, are not exempted by 6-3-1008 as they fall outside of the permissions granted for "hunting, capture, killing or destruction." The "not otherwise prohibited by law" language in the subsection (vii) language also provides a justification for prosecution for felony animal cruelty under state law. As cited above. tormenting and torture an animal is against the law in Wyoming under 6-3-1005(a)(ii). Therefore, his actions are ""otherwise prohibited by law,'' rendering the exemption inoperable. Under 6-3-1005(b), cruelty to animals, such as that committed by Roberts, is a felony crime punishable by imprisonment for not more than two (2) years, a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), or both. Given the severity of the crime and the deep depravity of his actions, animal cruelty charges must be filed‼️ #animalcruelty ⚖️ #animallaw

For some, it may even cause emotional suffering, trauma, and difficulty in sleeping brought about by the stress. Philippine laws provide for a recourse. Maltreatment of animals has its consequences and the law provides for the protection of animals. Hence, whether it is someone’s pet or an animal with no visible owner, it is unlawful to maltreat and cause harm to them. Pursuant to the Animal Welfare Act, it is unlawful for any person to maltreat any animal. There is a penalty of imprisonment and/or a fine or both as provided for by law*1. The Anti-Cruelty Law likewise penalizes acts of cruelty to animals. It includes acts such as beating, torturing, or killing animals, as well as organizing animal fights or using animals for experimentation without proper authority. The use of poison, dangerous drugs, or chemicals to kill or capture animals is also prohibited*2. In response to rising concerns for public safety, the Indian government is considering a ban on several dog breeds deemed high-risk. Among those under scrutiny are Rottweilers, Pitbulls, Terriers, Wolf dogs, and Mastiffs. The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying has urged states to halt the issuance of licenses for the sale and breeding of these breeds.
