Sometime between Thanksgiving and when Mariah Carey signals that it's time to start Christmas prep, there's a day in philanthropy called Giving Tuesday. It completes the holiday whirlwind experience-#BlackFriday, #CyberMonday, #GivingTuesday. It's like the adult rendition of the "Spend. Save. Donate" piggy banks found in kids' rooms when parents are trying to teach them about budgeting. This international day of radical generosity is brilliant. Yet, there isn't a day in the aftermath of the giving season where for-profit businesses and nonprofits commit to transparency and responsible stewardship. A dedicated day to give unfiltered honesty about what's working, what's isn't, and precisely how your contributions will fuel positive change. #AccountabilityWednesday?

In the spirit of giving and community support, I'd love to share an incredible story that recently unfolded through a local The Buy Nothing Project group her in Cary, NC. For those unfamiliar, these groups are a part of a global movement encouraging people to gift items they no longer need, fostering a culture of generosity and sustainability. A compassionate community member generously offered an item on the group, aiming to assist someone facing challenges. Moved by another member's account of a single mother and her struggle raising her nieces, she was inspired to amplify her impact. This led to a heartfelt collaboration among strangers in the Buy Nothing Group, culminating in a thoughtful gesture to gift a complete Thanksgiving dinner to the family. The story doesn't end there. In a remarkable display of collective kindness, the group members, previously strangers, united to raise and donate almost $2,000 in gifts, ensuring the family experiences a joyous and memorable Christmas. This story isn't just about the holidays; it's a testament to the power of community. It shows how complete strangers can unite to make a significant difference in the lives of others. How can we, as a business community, come together to support those in need? Whether through volunteering, donations, or sharing resources, there's always a way to contribute positively. Do you have inspiring stories or ideas on how we can make a difference in the community? Please share them in the comments below. Let's use this platform to spread positivity and inspire others to act with kindness and generosity. Together, we can create a chain reaction of goodwill and make our community a better place for all. #CommunitySupport #GivingBack #BuyNothingProject #Thanksgiving #Inspiration #BusinessForGood #Gratitude

Goodbye Halloween, hello November! 🍁🎉 As we bid farewell to the spectacular Halloween of 2023, there's still a mountain of candy to conquer, rotting pumpkins to deal with, and fallen leaves in our backyards. But guess what? It's time to get back to business! Our survey findings reveal some eye-opening insights: 🎃 Almost 0% of households, when presented with the classic "Trick or Treat" ask, dared to go with the trick option. 🌎 Similarly, we discovered that nearly 0% of nonprofit major donors generously gave for the first time without being asked. So, what's the takeaway here? Be as bold as Travis Kelce in inviting Taylor Swift to his home opener and make the ask! 🏈 🎤 Whether it's asking for treats on Halloween or asking for support in the nonprofit world, it's time to seize the opportunity and take that initiative. 🚀 Let's make November a month of bold actions and new opportunities. Are you up for the challenge? #NonprofitFundraising #BeBold #MajorGifts

As a pastor and dad of three young children, I understand the importance of teaching kids about generosity. Here are two actionable tips for parents to try right now: 1. Model Generosity: Children learn by example. Involve them in your charitable acts and discuss why you give and the impact it has on others. This helps them see generosity as a way of life. 2. Empower Their Giving: Encourage your children to choose causes they care about and contribute in their own way, whether through a "giving jar" or volunteering. This fosters a sense of responsibility and empathy.

It's a great way to support causes you believe in while also taking advantage of deductions. (Source: IRS - irs.gov) 2️⃣ **Increased Generosity**: Studies show that people tend to be more generous during the holiday season. The spirit of giving is contagious, and individuals are motivated to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond. (Source: Network for Good - networkforgood.com) 3️⃣ **Nonprofit Impact**: Year-end contributions play a crucial role in helping nonprofits meet their annual fundraising goals. (Source: Nonprofit Source - nonprofitssource.com) Share your favorite charities or causes in the comments - Who are you going to support at the end of 2023!? I'll start - I got a wonderful #phonathon call from an Albion College caller a couple nights ago - Since my start in philanthropy was in the phone room, it was a meaningful time and meaningful gift to give! #YearEndGiving #Philanthropy #MakeADifference 🎁
