Porsche is accelerating its shift to electric vehicles. The company plans to end production of combustion engine Macan SUVs by 2026 and 718 sports cars by 2025.  Croatian electric hypercar manufacturer Rimac has announced that it will show a Robotaxi concept at some point in early part of this year, according to an Autocar report. The company is developing the project under the Project 3 banner and while the commercial structure of the venture has been kept under wraps, the company has said that it already has backing from Kia. Rimac founder Mate Rimac told Autocar that the Robotaxi will be capable of complete Level 5 autonomy, and the company is developing its own structure to support the vehicle internally, including chargers and storage hubs. Rimac said that is a car of a ‘a completely different type’ which suggests that it will not be based on any existing architecture and will be entirely bespoke. It is likely to have a multipurpose vehicle (MPV)-like body style to achieve maximum interior space for passengers. As the manufacturer of the near 2000-bhp Rimac Nevera electric supercar, and now being the parent of Bugatti through a cross-shareholding arrangement with Porsche, it is extremely likely the Robotaxi will not be branded as a Rimac and will instead have an all-new name. Zeekr, a new electric-car brand from China owned by Geely (Volvo's parent company), is set to launch in Australia later this year with a range of models, including two SUVs. The first arrivals will be the X small SUV and the 009 people mover. Mars Chen, Vice President of Zeekr International, confirmed that all Zeekr models are designed for both left- and right-hand drive, enabling a rapid expansion of their local model line-up. Zeekr plans to introduce at least one new model to the Australian market each year, including the Tesla Model Y rival, the 7X. The Zeekr X, the first vehicle to arrive, will launch in November and features a 66kWh battery with options for either a single 200kW/343Nm rear electric motor or dual electric motors with a combined 315kW and 543Nm.
