Session Three: Children of Infamous Criminals   “Children of Infamous Criminals” is an exploration of how the heinous crimes of an infamous parent can impact a child or young adult. Does that impact differ with the age of the child or stage of life once the crime is discovered?

A very brave article on how silence hurts victims and protects abusers. Staying silent “to protect the victim” is a convenient way for us to not bring up things we find uncomfortable and pretend everything is okay. If you want to really help victims, then ask them what they need and let them know you are available for help.

The double standard is real...

We're relieved that the recent incident at a Louisiana church didn't turn into a tragedy, but it's important to consider the following questions: Would you be ready to take action as a bystander? Are your employees prepared to respond if a similar situation occurs? Shockingly, half of all attacks are over before law enforcement arrives. That's why it's crucial to be able to provide emergency care to those injured prior to first responders arriving. While we can't always prevent these events, we can be prepared to take action. Another criminal documentary down. Literally countless watched, researched and studied along with countless true crime series from various countries and continents including North and South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and various parts of the Orient and in over 90% of them dating violent crimes from all the way back as far as the early 1900s to present day: 1. The victims knew their attackers. 2. The physical attack was an ambush and not physically defensible (killed in their sleep, from behind, poisoned etc.) 3. The vast majority of predators/attackers displayed countless missed behavioral red flags that could have prevented most of the victimizations. 4. Less than 5% of what is being passed off, taught and sold as self defense/protection displayed on the internet/social media today would have been of any use to any of the thousands of unfortunate victims. 5. Over 85% of the predators were males. 6. Roughly 30-40% of the homicides were committed by family members. The self defense/protection industry needs to evolve to reflect these facts.

In Week 6 of CPA, Family Justice Division Chief Alyson Dietrich outlined CPS case procedures, child removal protocols, family violence responses, juvenile case distinctions, and the significance of reporting child abuse. Child Exploitation Unit Chief Kim Kircher highlighted the unit's comprehensive approach to combating internet-based crimes against children.
