🚀 Just listened to a great talk by Stephan Feldgoise, the Global Co-Head of M&A at Goldman Sachs, at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)! 🌐 Stephan Feldgoise shared many insights from his journey. Surprisingly, despite working in a numbers-heavy industry, he revealed that 95% of his current role is about emotional intelligence, describing it as a "people job." 🧠💼 His advice for success in any role was great for people looking to get started in the industry: 🌟 Understand how CEOs and higher-ups think about problems, even in junior positions. Have a point of view on topics and offer interpretations, not just analysis. 🌟 Build trust – be the teammate everyone wants. Master the art of listening and engage with everyone as a peer, tailoring your communication to address their needs. 🌟 Be memorable – engage in activities outside work that foster bonds. Diving into market trends, Stephan Feldgoise highlighted that the resurgence of M&A is heavily dependent on Private Equity. Despite sitting on record-high cash and assets, PE firms are yet to make significant moves. A focus on smaller companies in the 2-5 billion dollar range could shift dynamics, providing easier exit opportunities and lower financing costs.
