Are you making good use of Tax-free childcare? Tax-Free Childcare is available to working families to help you save on your childcare costs. However, many people may not be making use of this provision and with the Easter break soon upon us, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is encouraging families who have not yet signed up to consider doing so. The single biggest factor behind the decision to return to work after having children is the cost of childcare provision. The cost of losing mothers who are forced to choose between returning to work or looking after their children is incalculable for the economy. A mother’s touch in the workplace should never be underestimated as it brings balance and understanding and a nurturing approached as opposed to a competitive, get ahead environment that can be difficult for some to operate in and have their abilities noticed and improved. The investment at this early stage should reap dividends for many years to come and give a return much higher than the initial investment.

Do you know about the Gov Tax-Free childcare program? You can receive up to £500 every 3 months (or up to £2,000 per year) per child to cover your childcare expenses. And if your child has a disability, that amount increases to £1,000 every 3 months (or up to £4,000 per year). You can use these funds to pay for the following Aktiva services #breakfastclub, #afterschoolclub, or #holidaycamps. Here is how it works: simply sign up for Tax-Free Childcare and make your payments to Aktiva through the scheme. For every £8 you deposit per child, the government will contribute an additional £2! That means you can receive up to £500 every 3 months (or £1,000 if your child has a disability), adding up to a total of £2,000 or £4,000 annually. Did you know a tax credit exists for businesses that provide childcare to their employees? Some of the very best employees are also parents! And most parents need childcare for their children under the age of 6! Employers can get a tax credit of UP TO $150,000 PER YEAR for a qualified childcare facility. The credit is worth up to $150,000 per year to offset 10% of qualified childcare resource and referral costs and 25% of qualified childcare facility costs. Does your company provide childcare? HMRC’s Childcare account can be used to claim free childcare (if eligible) or pay for Tax-Free Childcare. HMRC’s sign in page for the account states that in order ‘…to keep getting free childcare or Tax-Free Childcare, you must sign in every 3 months and confirm your details are up to date’. #Childcare #ChildcareAccount
