July is Disability Pride Month. Last year, my family and I suddenly became a part of the extended disability community. Our journey has been difficult and tiring, and we have had our share of low moments - but we have *also* found inspiration and strength and grace from the remarkable people we have met along the way. Living with a disability is not easy - there are challenges and indignities to manage every day. But we are awed and humbled by our friends in the community, and the determination and grit and good humor you have modeled for us. We are forever grateful. So we'd like to thank everyone who is joining us this month to celebrate Disabilty Pride. In my own backyard, I'd like to thank the amazing team at Verizon, and particularly the Verizon ADVANCE Employee Resource Group, for their leadership and commitment to accessibility, both within our company, and in how we design products for our customers. This year's theme is "Different, Not Less Than", and I can't think of a better theme. Thanks and here's a toast to Disability Pride!
I am also glad to share the organization that is doing excellent work for this cause. https://www.voiceofsap.org/ one of the key facets of this org here is not just the advocacy piece but bringing diverse , and at times quite creative solutions to pressing problems. Thank you to Pranav Desai who inspired me to act and support this org. I applaud the volunteers at Verizon and empathizers across the globe who have invested time in solutions.
Thank you for sharing. The more we share, the more people will realize we all have a common thread.
Thanks for sharing. It’s an important month for my family too.
Thank you Alex Doyle for sharing and reminding us of some of the challenges here and how communities and like minded individuals have come together to rally for a cause. Always there to support as a lot still needs to be done.
Thank you for sharing Alex : wishing you and your family continued strength and continued grace in your journey

6dThis hits very close to home for me too. Having grown up with and then being guardian for 22 years for my sister with Special Needs Down Syndrome, I know all to well the challenges that we face. However, I saw more love, compassion and kindness from the people I met along the way than I ever knew possible. Here’s to all of our Family and Friends that are “Different, Not Less Than” 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
