Head of Sustainability, Capital Markets, EMEA & Asia Pacific

I AM BACKKK!!!!   In case you hadn't noticed that your LinkedIn feed wasn't filling up with aggressive climate posts, I have been on parental leave. What a year it has been?! A lot of change for me personally but I fear NOT ENOUGH change in the world of sustainability.   What have I missed? It seems that occupiers have started to gear up on sustainability integration in Europe and, although things may appear to have slowed on the investor side as core investors enter their implementation phase, there still looks to be growth on the value add investor side.   But onto some exciting news…JLL Capital Markets is going global with its sustainability strategy! I will be expanding my EMEA role to drive sustainability across JLL's Asia Pacific Capital Markets team, based out of Melbourne. I am originally from Melbourne so the decision to move home for my parental leave felt like the right thing to do as I entered this new chapter of my life. My JLL journey started in Asia (Hong Kong, Tokyo, Shanghai) over a decade ago, so it feels great to be returning.   Rest assured, I will still be keeping my foot in the game in Europe (as much as I can given the time difference) but I will be relying heavily on my incredible EMEA ESG Executive team and Council members to keep carrying the torch and continue pushing sustainability integration across the region.    Is sustainability coming up in transactions in Asia Pacific? Are real estate investors/landlords/LPs/banks starting to integrate sustainability into investment decisions? How is EU legislation driving change in the region? How are asset managers managing risk across their APAC portfolios? Which sectors and countries seem to pose the biggest risks/ challenges? Are local benchmarks such as Green Mark or NABERS being used by investors more than CRREM for NZC underwriting? What is the correct measure to focus on to maximise liquidity? These are all the questions (and many more!) I hope to answer in my new role.   To my old friends in Asia Pacific - watch out for an inbox influx coming your way or please get in touch.   To my Europe friends, you now have someone you can call on for any APAC insights. Welcome back and congratulations on your new role. It's exciting to see JLL Capital Markets expanding its sustainability strategy globally. You've certainly got a lot of questions to tackle in your new position, particularly around sustainability integration in the Asia Pacific region. What are your initial thoughts on the biggest challenges and opportunities you'll be facing in this new market?
