The German start-up mo:re is doing its part to end animal testing. It’s developing a laboratory robot that can build tiny human-derived organs that can be more effectively utilized to test the safety and efficacy of new medicines than outdated and cruel animal testing. By using a robot to build these organs instead of humans, organ production will be faster, more accurate, and more cost-effective. The use of artificial intelligence helps ensure accuracy. Using animals results in slow and inaccurate drug development not to mention immense suffering. 🐭🔬🧪 According to a recent BBC article, #artificialintelligence could help end animal testing. Researchers have developed an AI system called REACHAcross that can predict the toxicity of chemicals, potentially reducing the need for animal experiments. The AI was trained on data from 800,000 animal tests and can predict how toxic tens of thousands of chemicals are from their molecular structure alone. This project helps industry partner Dogs Trust to better understand trends in diseases, and to better communicate to dog owners.
