ISO has just announced the development of an "ISO Net Zero Aligned Organisations Standard"! Key points: - Builds on the existing ISO Net Zero Guidelines - Will be a certifiable standard for organizational audits - Aims to launch at #COP30 in 18 months This is a big deal as many industries require and trust ISO - International Organization for Standardization as a universal standard. While companies may not understand the alphabet soup of sustainability, they maybe more open to net-zero goals through an organization they trust. ISO is in the process of creating a new standard for Net Zero. Curious what the concensus on this will be, my question being, how much crossover will there be to Environmental Management Systems and ESG? Thoughts? I will cavaet this to say MHI and it's subsidiary's are committed to #MissionNetZero by 2040, so having such a certification could bolster our efforts to meet this goal by keeping us on track and making continual improvements, similar to other ISO programs. #ISOCertifications

Evolution of Guidelines: The new process will transform the ISO Net Zero Guidelines into an independently verifiable international standard, expected to launch at the COP30 conference in November 2025. 2. Global Collaboration: The British Standards Institution (BSI) and Colombia’s national standards body ICONTEC are leading the process, with participation from thousands of experts across more than 170 countries. Understanding the extent to which carbon removals and offsets can be used in credible transition plans is crucial for organizations. All organizations should prioritise emissions reductions over the use of offsets when it comes to achieving net zero. However, offsets are a useful tool when it comes to dealing with residual emissions, those left over after all feasible measures to reduce emissions have been used. When it comes to using offsets, only the removal-based offset removes emissions from the atmosphere and stores it, preventing these greenhouse gases from contributing to increased global warming.
