Senior Vice President, Corporate Marketing at Cisco | Event Marketer Dream Team Member | Events, Brand, Storytelling, Creative Content
This week I had the pleasure of meeting with our Cisco Marketing interns to talk about our Corporate Marketing team and my career journey. Early-in-career colleagues always inspire me with their curiosity and fresh perspectives, and I loved the time with this group. They asked me what advice I’d give myself when I started at Cisco, and it reminded me of a few key principles that have guided me on my career: 1️⃣ Never question your gut. Some of the best ideas come from a hunch or a feeling. When you trust your gut, you open the door to creativity and innovation, leading to breakthroughs that data alone might not reveal. 2️⃣ Be a good listener. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Listening builds trust and fosters a collaborative environment. Plus, when teammates feel heard, they are more likely to share thoughts and ideas. 3️⃣ There is power in being an observer. Whether it’s teammates, stakeholders or agency partners, observation helps you understand their needs and concerns – which is crucial for making informed decisions and providing effective solutions. I’m excited to see the impact this bright group will make on our Cisco Marketing team. Thanks again for having me. It was a highlight of my week! #WeAreCisco
Great pieces of advice. In marketing, we move so fast sometimes we forget to do the above. Such a fun thing to do during a busy week, I know they appreciated it.
