Every other day, I receive a proposal from a random tech sweatshop to outsource some development of jPOS. Here is my standard response: "If you want to collaborate on our project, you're welcome to participate in our community. Offering paid services to open-source projects is not something that you'll have much luck doing. Open source is a collaborative process, driven by a community of passionate individuals who contribute their time and expertise to build something great together. It makes absolutely no sense to hire for-pay services from unknown companies to work on it. The essence of open source is collective effort and shared knowledge, not commercial transactions. Trust, transparency, and mutual respect are the foundations of open source, and bringing in external, for-profit entities undermines these core values."
