Multiple myeloma is twice as common, and twice as deadly, in Black patients compared to white patients. That is why DEI and health equity are central to our mission of accelerating a cure for each and every myeloma patient. Research has shown that when Black myeloma patients experience a timely diagnosis and receive standard of care treatment, they can achieve the same, or better, disease outcomes as other myeloma patient populations. The latest developments in the field of Digital Health were at the center of discussions among academics, tech experts and health professionals during the event "Life Sciences, Innovation, Technology and Cancer: From Prevention to Treatment". 🏥 Our very own Yiannis Samiotakis focused his presentation on Digital Therapeutics, a promising field that can be a game changer for health services. He also referred to ongoing #digitalhealth projects funded by the Recovery Fund and NSRF, and how they are affecting the public and private relevant ecosystems.

In 2000, my life changed when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and later, ALS. It was a tough time for our family as we tried to make sense of all the healthcare decisions. It was confusing because there were many different opinions and no clear answers. This difficult time in my life opened my eyes and inspired me to create the docu-series, "Pursuit of a Cure." My mother's search for a cure led us to many different places, including Mexico. It was a journey filled with both sadness and hope. The sad part was dealing with misinformation and false promises from some experts. We were told that others with similar conditions had been successfully treated, but we found out that my mother's case was very different. But there was also hope. My mother was part of a research trial that had positive results for her and others. The treatment she got during that time worked so well that it is still used today. But many people don't know about these research trials and studies. Our docu-series wants to make this information clear and easy to understand. We want to help others find their way, just like my mother did. Everyone should have the right to accurate information. Through our docu-series, we want to share information about traditional and experimental treatments and how they affect people. I'm excited to share this story with you.
