How do you feel when you are wrong and someone else is right? 🤔 Admitting we're wrong often doesn’t feel great. We either get defensive when we're convinced we're right, or we feel embarrassed when we finally acknowledge we’re wrong. I know I’ve been there. Adam Grant’s book, #ThinkAgain, was really thought provoking as he shares how we should all learn to embrace the joy of being wrong. These were some of my takeaways: 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙥𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜? 1. We tie our self-worth to our beliefs, making challenges feel personal. 2. The fear of seeming incompetent or foolish, especially in certain contexts. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙬𝙚 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜? 💡 Tɪᴘ 1: Dᴇᴛᴀᴄʜᴍᴇɴᴛ - Detach our present from our past. It’s okay to accept that our present self is different. - Detach our opinions from our identity. Define ourselves by values, rather than opinions. 💡 Tɪᴘ 2: Fɪɴᴅ ᴊᴏʏ ɪɴ ʙᴇɪɴɢ ᴡʀᴏɴɢ - Be like scientists committed to the truth, even if it means proving your own views wrong. - Every new piece of information presents a choice: cling to old beliefs, or embark on a journey of continuous learning. As Daniel Kahneman says, “𝘽𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙄 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙄'𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜.” #AdamGrant #book #growthmindset #learning #psychology #personalgrowth #leadership

This reminds me of a recent interview with Ami Vora on Lenny's Podcast, where Lenny got super intrigued because he had heard that whenever someone disagrees with Ami, she would literally say, "Fascinating! Tell me more!" It's great, but it's also a muscle she's had to very consciously develop over the years. Highly recommend: https://www.lennyspodcast.com/making-an-impact-through-authenticity-and-curiosity-ami-vora-cpo-at-faire-ex-whatsapp-fb-ig/
