Did you know that around 71% of employers celebrate events such as mental health awareness days, only 36% provide actual mental health support that their people rate as good or outstanding? Are these really the employers people want to work for? Potentially not, as the survey asked employees the questions and the outcome was that more than a third of employers were reported as wellbeing washing. Not putting their money where their mouth was. Not truly investing in people, just talking a good talk. The problem is, stress is real. Employees feeling undervalued is real. So the solutions and the care needs to be real too. Shock horror! EAPs don't want your employees to use them! Why are you so surprised? Something that costs so little clearly has super low utilisation. Counsellors and therapists are qualified professionals. They quite rightly charge £££s/hour. They're not a commodity. The news about a major EAP being investigated for how they manage cases makes for sad reading. And the reports from ex and current employees shines a light on why they're so cheap. But wasn't it obvious? There are better ways to look after and invest in your team's mental health and wellbeing. But cheap can't ever come into the equation when it comes to providing mental health support that works. Plumm can help if you're ready to make a real investment in people and performance.
