In the Fall semester of 2023-2024, I did an internship with Flexaseal hosted by Ryan Connor. Here, I learned about all there was about mechanical seals, what an engineer's day to day life looks like, how a manufacturing process starts and ends, and much more. I did all this by reading through many different articles and shadowing engineers from Flexaseal's design, repair, R and D, applications, and more departments. Through this internship I learned how a professional work environment operates, how to connect with others in a professional way, and a lot about engineering in general.

This week marked the beginning of my 2nd Year IT journey. Despite being an Electrical and Electronic Engineering student, I found myself placed in a mechanic garage. But since I firmly believe that no knowledge goes to waste, I'm determined to make the most of my time by learning as much as I can. This week, I learnt more about tires, the different pressure gauges for various automobiles, the proper way to lose tires off a car and how to reattach them, the differences between tubed and tubeless tires, and even how to repair punctures. Additionally, I was introduced to a car's brake system. I was able to understand the functions of components such as brake pads, brake discs, ABS, and so on and how they work together. I further gained more insights into the differences between 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive vehicles, including their respective advantages and disadvantages. And to top it off, I had the opportunity to participate in fixing a car's gear and another car's radiator. It was certainly a stressful week, but I enjoyed it. Spigot Diameter Enhancement for VE Pumps: Created and applied solutions to reduce spigot diameter damage, ensuring more durable and reliable VE pumps. Lucar Terminal Bend Minimization: Engineered methods to reduce lucar terminal bends caused by mishandling, enhancing fixture contact reliability.These experiences have sharpened my skills in process optimization, problemsolving, and quality assurance, reinforcing my dedication to mechanical engineering

Got the opportunity to do a project and a task assigned by my Supervisors. • Project: "Improvement in the T4 Heat Treatment Cycle to reduce the energy cost" By doing experiments at different temperature ranges and for different time cycles, studying the result hardness and comparing it with the required standard hardness, reached to a conclusion to reduce the energy cost by doing heat treatment at reduced temperature. • Task Assigned: "Composition Study of Aluminum Alloy" Study of composition of the Aluminum alloy being used there in Die Casting plant and effects of the alloying elements in casted components. #learningphase #internshipcompletion #CastingandFoundry #Metallurgy

Walters’ interest in manufacturing began as he grew up with an engineer mother and an air traffic controller father.
