Ten days ago, a friend introduced me to #BAAS (Banking as a Service), and it completely changed my perspective on modern banking. In my days in the industry, banking was predominantly about selling products, with services limited to traditional offerings like notional pooling and cash collection. Today, however, banks are evolving to become an integral part of our daily lives. A prime example is KIB’s innovative approach for real estate owners, combining mortgage services, technology, resource leveraging, and comprehensive asset management on a single platform. This marks a significant leap in customer experience. However, this should only be the beginning. Banks need to continuously explore traditionally non-bankable industries that have high market participation and decent market sizes. The potential to enhance customer experience in banking is immense, especially as the industry has only recently begun to embrace BaaS as an accepted reality. #BAAS #customerexperience

Earlier today, I had the privilege of participating in a thought-provoking panel discussion on implementing open banking in Saudi Arabia. It was an insightful session that shed light on the transformative potential of open banking and its impact on the financial landscape of the Kingdom. During the panel, we delved into the critical aspects of open banking, including its benefits, challenges, and implications for financial institutions, businesses, and consumers. We explored how open banking can foster innovation, enhance competition, and empower individuals with greater control over their financial data. We examined the importance of collaboration between regulators, banks, and fintech companies to create a secure and standardized ecosystem that promotes trust and transparency. Moreover, we discussed the potential use cases and opportunities that open banking presents for various stakeholders, such as personalized financial services and seamless payments. The panelists shared their insights and experiences, providing valuable perspectives on the future of open banking in the Saudi Arabian market. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Riyad Bank for having me to represent the Digital Banking team and Seamless Middle East & Saudi Arabia for hosting such an engaging and informative panel discussion.
