Caution does not always reduce risk. In fact in many instances it creates more risk. Take for example the car I saw driving down the merge lane at 30 mph trying to merge into traffic going 60+ mph. Not only did this extreme level of caution put the driver at risk it put 3 other cars at risk as they tried to maneuver out of the way. Caution by nature tends to wait to make decisions and makes decisions slowly. It leans towards the known and avoids the unknown. Ask these companies how that strategy worked out for them: -Blockbuster -BlackBerry -Kodak -Yahoo -RadioShack -IBM -Macy’s -Nortel There of course are plenty of places for caution and waiting and where making a decision too quickly can be harmful. But many times the riskiest thing to do is not make a decision.
