Embracing Purpose and Service: My Commitment to Supporting Black and Brown Communities As I reflect on my journey and the values that guide me, I am reminded of the importance of supporting black and brown women, as well as people from diverse backgrounds. It's about more than just offering assistance; it's about living my purpose and staying grounded in my commitment to serve others. Every day, I wake up with a renewed sense of purpose, eager to make a positive impact in the lives of those around me. I understand that I may not be able to help everyone, but I firmly believe that by focusing on one person at a time, we can create a ripple effect of change and empowerment. Supporting black and brown communities is not just a one-time effort; it's a lifelong commitment. It requires us to remain steadfast in our dedication to lifting others up and advocating for equality and justice. It's about amplifying voices that have been historically marginalized and ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive. I am honored to be part of a community that values diversity, inclusion, and empowerment. Together, let's continue to live our purpose, stay grounded in our values, and uplift those who need it most. #teamOrange Spotlight: Community > Everything “The difference between a broken community and a thriving one is the presence of women who are valued.” – Michelle Obama We sat down with Lola Allan and Gillian Kilpatrick to discuss their #perspectives on #community and what it means to them. As Lola put forward her view on ‘community’, she mentioned the importance of #accepting people for who they are, as they are. She strongly believes that a community is #essential to foster caring, loving individuals and #positive interactions. Gillian added that her community has given her #lessons that she can share with #futuregenerations; and she will hold and mirror all of these in her heart. Gillian and Lola also highlighted why having solid company #values is critical, as it lays the groundwork for modeling #behaviours and attracting the most #authentic people. The workplace then feels more like a community, an ensemble of like-minded individuals establishing #strong bonds. Racial Equity in the Workplace: A Path Forward Together In the journey towards a more just and inclusive society, the workplace plays a pivotal role. Racial equity isn't just a buzzword; it's a commitment to acknowledging that opportunities are not available and accessible to certain racial groups. Therefore, systemic barriers must be dismantled. Diversity (representation) is the foundation for racial equity. We must actively work on challenging biases, confronting uncomfortable truths, and creating an environment where every individual feels valued, heard, and empowered.
