UWC is a very difficult place… to leave behind. 3 years at UWC ISAK Japan have certainly flown by. Colleagues, friends, students and families supportive of the life-changing UWC philosophy made this a truly magical experience for me and my family. The connection with my admissions counterparts all around the world, the UWC International Office staff, and the incredibly committed UWC national committee members provided an opportunity for professional development and impact beyond words. My sincere gratitude to the SASG/SATF (Selections and Admissions task force/steering group) members for the insightful meetings and work achieved. At UWC, every student is a completely different world from each other, and they all have an interesting story to tell: their own. The best part is to see that fire in their eyes, that desire to make a difference, not to just attend high school, but to take on the world with its differences and difficulties and make it a better place. Having the opportunity to meet them and then become part of their journey is a privilege I will always treasure. All my admiration to our students who at a very young age (14-16) decide to leave their comfort zone to grow and learn. It’s the pathway of the brave and the resilient. They make it to campus after being selected from hundreds (sometimes thousands) of applicants. I can only hope they know and will always remember how amazing they are. If you are connected to UWC in one way or another, keep it up! Your contribution (no matter how big or small) is changing someone’s life. If you are not part of the movement, try to find ways to engage and support, you will never regret making that choice. Looking forward to attending the amazing #AIRSI2022 conference this week. My first one since starting my PhD journey at Universidad de Valencia earlier this year. AIRSI2022 is an international conference focused on the application and effects of technologies that are part of the so called Industry 4.0 (artificial intelligence, robots, intelligent assistants, augmented reality, virtual reality, big data, blockchain, collaborative platforms, etc).
