It’s been about eight months since I’ve began my journey at ERIE. Like with any new experience, there is plenty of uncertainty, but I knew in my heart that I was setting myself up for success by accepting this opportunity. Here are some things that I’ve taken with me over the past few months: 🫱🏻🫲🏽: The importance of connections - we know that it’s more about who you know and how you make your mark on those people. I’ve finally grown to understand through this short experience that there is no hurt in reaching out and starting that conversation. I would not have developed as proficiently if I didn’t have those colleagues and peers in my corner, taking a chance on me like they did. ✨: Trust the process. There is nothing worse than feeling like you aren’t meeting goals or improving enough. There was a time where I felt completely lost and stuck and all the things. I reminded myself countless times that this is a just another stepping stone to the peak of what I’ve worked for over the past few years. One day, you’ll realize how much more comfortable you feel and your confidence will begin to grow. It directly affects the service you are putting out and it’s rewarding when you close a call knowing you alleviated someone’s stress. 🧠: Keep an open mind. The basis of customer service is the idea that you leave the customer happier than you found them. An important part of truly understanding your customer is actively listening, as well as keeping an open mind. Our world has become so technologically advanced and we have to remember we are all human beings. You will hear of terribly unfortunate stories and happy ones too. Don’t forget that no matter how upset somebody is, you might never know what it’s like for them on the other side of the phone. Don’t take it personally - be thankful for your wealth of knowledge and ability to be the person that someone relies on for help in trying times. 🌤️: Each day is a new day. Careers in this industry can be mentally taxing. I’ve become more purposeful in my attempts to brush hard days off and leave it at work. I think it’s necessary to recognize that we all have our bad days, but also important to be grateful that we have another day to be a helping hand to somebody and continue to get better at what we do. 🏆: Work for a company that appreciates you. It’s been proven time and time again that ERIE is a certified “Great Place to Work” based solely on employee feedback. I am someone who doesn’t like to “force” myself through situations that aren’t making me happy. With the uncertainty came the thought of “what if I don’t like it?” Even through the tough days, it is a great help to know I work for a place that will continue to reward me for my accomplishments, coach me on areas that can be improved, and always provide me with the tools to develop, both inside and outside of the workplace.

"Last year, we implemented a schedule where half of the staff had a half day off one week, and the other half the following week. It helped with the team environment, and those working pulled together to make it easier for clients. Morale has improved, and employees are monitoring themselves and being more efficient," shares Maureen. As 2023 draws to a close, I wanted to share a personal note with all my valued partners, friends, and followers and reflect on some of our achievements this year in my team at Global Recruiters of Denver. One of my proudest achievements is the ability to have open conversations with clients about supporting their workforce in modern ways: embracing flexible work arrangements, supporting mental health, wellness programs, and promoting a healthy work-life balance. Witnessing the positive impact on employees, the attraction of new talent, and our commitment to their holistic career advancement has been a personal reward. The revamp of The Finders Five has been another way for us to give back and share our insights with the insurance community in a new way. Creating, building, and distributing was a big team effort that exemplified our strong partnership and the reception of this has been heartwarming to say the least! Paying it forward is something close to my heart and this year our commitment to charitable giving has transcended mere financial support. Not only have we been able to support Girls Who Code with each placement, we continue to actively participate in meaningful dialogues with clients around: prioritizing open communication and transparency, creating a culture of equal opportunities, ensuring that every team member feels valued, to name a few. As I have watched them implement these strategies, I see the return of holistic growth and team happiness. Throughout the year, the stories we have heard have served as a constant spring of inspiration. Whether it's witnessing a strategic client initiative come to fruition, seeing a candidate thrive in a new role, or observing a company implement innovative recognition programs, these stories continue to fuel our passion for making a positive impact. When it comes to benefits, supplemental insurance is key to meeting employee need and demand. In fact, the Aflac WorkForces Report finds that among organizations offering supplemental insurance, 50% report that it helps with employee recruitment, and 60% report that it helps with employee retention. The survey also finds that employers look to benefits consultants, agents or brokers to help determine the best options for their business.
