As professionals, we expect recruiters to take the time to carefully review our profiles before reaching out about potential job opportunities. However, it's disheartening to receive generic InMails that show no indication of having read our profiles. This happened to me recently when a recruiter reached out about an opportunity with Amazon, despite the fact that I've been working with Amazon for almost two years. With so many job vacancies, it's shocking that nobody is getting a job. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of open vacancies on firm websites, which remain there. And they are regularly reposted. I read a local article about a web development company that was having difficulty recruiting developers and project managers, therefore it was restricting the quantity of projects it delivered to clients. These initiatives encompassed corporate apps, digital platforms, and e-commerce websites. Individuals did not disappear. Millions of people are seeking employment. Hiring is stuck because that is how it prefers to be. A hiring process that is this intricate, drawn-out, multi-layered, and involved renders decision-making impossible. Employers who are willing to forego revenue growth, sales, and services because they are unable to let go of their hiring and interviewing methods strike me as crazy. Recently, I was asked what I thought of the Amazon Interview Loop. After one day of interviews with four or five candidates, you will either receive an offer of employment or be notified that you did not receive an offer within two days. I think that is incredibly intelligent. Sophisticated. productive. That's probably why most organizations, including Amazon and Google, for example, continue to search for a VP of Sales six months later. #hiring

When is the right time for a small Amazon agency to hire? We've spoken with quite a few up-and-coming agencies over the past few weeks about supporting their team growth. A common conundrum Founders and CEOs face is knowing exactly when the time is right to hire for growth, not just in replacing staff. Hiring someone in the hope that you land that new client account comes with significant risk to your cashflow and daily operations. The converse of this in only hiring once you've secured that new client, also comes with its own set of risks and pitfalls. Lets unpack these a little more. Firstly, bringing on an additional specialist to execute Amazon campaigns can immediately take some pressure off your team, but you play a balancing act in ensuring that everyone has a sufficient workload. This risk of course is not securing that new client and being over staffed, which can have an impact on staff engagement and overall morale. Starting your hiring process too late can lead to additional workload pressure on your team, because hiring timeframes don't always run as smoothly as we hope they would. You may then find yourself losing one or two other staff after a month or two of added pressure thus compounding your challenge. A blended approach seems to work best, in that as a business you're always speaking with good talent when it presents itself. Some call this talent pipelining, but having a constant grasp of the Amazon candidate market can be your major competitive advantage....
