This was a really good webinar from Business in the Community for #IWD2024 👇 Some really interesting points raised by the speakers on: 👉 What the future of gender equality/equity looks like (there seems to be a fatigue, despite the data showing not enough progress is being made); 👉 How AI is likely to impact groups that are already disadvantaged in the workplace; 👉 The importance of flexible working (obviously...); 👉 Age being the exacerbator of any other protected characteristics; 👉The opportunity to make work better for everyone is HUGE

If you are engaging in fake, performative posts and “actions” (inactions, really) and NOT providing women (yes, trans women included!) with: • Opportunites for growth and upward momentum/movement in an organization, company, community, etc. • Paid parental leave (ideally at least 16 weeks or more), and a slow transitioning onboarding process (while not piling on full-time work right away) • PAYING THEM FAIRLY & ADEQUATELY- I don’t care if it’s for work in a salaried or contract position, AND also in a speaking, consulting, etc. role..You really believe women, and anyone for that matter, wants to work for free? NO. Stop asking women to work for nothing (no, exposure doesn’t pay the bills) I could go on…I won’t because it’s Friday, the sun is finally out, and I need to do my own resting, recharging and healing☀️ Be better AND do better folx!

Too often, companies don't match their words with action. Allyship must be on a continual basis, and not just a stamp on a postcard on IWD. If organizations are serious about supporting women, there needs to be an active and conscious effort to elevate the playing field by continually working towards equitable pay, launching mentorship programs where women can help raise other women, and creating a healthy and supportive work environment where women can bring their best and full selves to work.

Senior Manager, Social Media at Boomi | Board Chair, SocialMedia.org | TikTok Content Creator @NewMommyToks 🌟
A good corporate #socialmedia manager will always push back on supporting a day because it’s “trending” on social. Why? Because if you aren’t consistently working content into your strategy you’re at risk of losing trust with your audience. Making impact and driving change is a YEAR LONG strategy rather than a “day” or social moment when it’s trending. So what do you do when these requests come up and you don’t have a #socialstrategy for your brand yet? 1. Find those who are passionate about the topic and help them promote on social media. Engage from your corporate account to help boost reach. 2. Work with your business ahead of a social moment to help build out a content strategy that extends beyond the moment. 3. Encourage your leadership and team to join the conversation off social media (volenteer, speaking opportunities, etc) Help them promote their impact on social. What are your thoughts and strategies? Do you agree? #internationalwomensday

🌟 Celebrating International Women’s Day! 🌟 As we commemorate this significant day, let’s reflect on the remarkable achievements of women worldwide. Their contributions span across various domains, from science and technology to arts and social activism. Here’s a thoughtful LinkedIn post that highlights both progress and challenges: 🚀 Breaking Barriers: Celebrating Women’s Achievements 🌍 Global Impact: Women have shattered glass ceilings in corporate boardrooms, leading multinational companies, and driving innovation. Their resilience and vision have transformed industries and economies. 🔬 STEM Pioneers: Women scientists, engineers, and researchers have made groundbreaking discoveries. From Marie Curie’s pioneering work in radioactivity to contemporary advancements in medicine and space exploration, their impact is immeasurable. 🎨 Artistic Brilliance: Women artists, writers, and creators have enriched our cultural heritage. Their novels, paintings, and music resonate across generations, challenging norms and inspiring change. 🌱 Social Change Agents: Women activists have championed human rights, environmental conservation, and social justice. Their advocacy has led to policy reforms, empowering marginalized communities. 📊 Backwardness and Disparities: Gender Pay Gap: Despite progress, women continue to earn less than men for the same work. Research shows that globally, women earn approximately 81 cents for every dollar earned by men. Underrepresentation: Women remain underrepresented in leadership roles. Only 7.4% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women. Addressing this disparity is crucial for a more equitable future. Unpaid Labor: Women disproportionately shoulder unpaid caregiving responsibilities. Globally, women spend 2.6 times more time on unpaid care work than men. Violence Against Women: Gender-based violence persists worldwide. Approximately 1 in 3 women experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. 🌸 Let’s honor the achievements and acknowledge the work that lies ahead. Together, we can create a world where every woman’s potential is fully realized. Happy International Women’s Day! 🌟👩🔬🎨🌍 #InternationalWomensDay #EmpowerWomen #GenderEquality
