During my own relatively short employment within the cleaning industry (compared to our company's three-decade expertise) there is one issue I have seen our customers repeatedly facing more than others:   Short Staffing   "How do other organizations cope with such limited staffing?"   There are several strategies to address this challenge, but the biggest piece of this puzzle is KNOWLEDGE!   You cannot direct your resources to a place you do not fully understand. As department leaders, you need to be aware of your staff's strengths, areas that need improvement, as well as the needs of your customers. It’s been a while since I started my role at Farmer Joe’s Fresh Market as anEvening Manager, but I wanted to share this update with everyone. "The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things." - Ronald Reagan I have lead many employees over the years. I have found those "A players" and those "B players" and elevated them to become future leaders. I have even taken a "C player" and developed them slowly by coaching them and encouraging them over the years so that they eventually became an "A player". I pride myself on growing and mentoring the future leaders of the amazing company I work for. We always strive to "build a bench"! The sign of a great leader/manager is what his/her team does when they are away from their job. I instill passion, dedication, and ownership into my team every day. When I am not there to lead them they should still be able to complete the job in my absence! Why? Because I gave them the tools to ensure the department/store would still run flawlessly in my absence. If you lead a horse to water they will drink it! Celebrate your team and develop them! Don't be scared they are going to take your job! You should want them to have that drive in them to "Take Your Job". If you are scared that someone is going to "take your job" then you are not doing what you should be doing as a leader! Time to look in the mirror and question yourself, not your staff! Manage the process! Manage the numbers! Manage the inventory! Buuuut PLEASE just lead your people! They will follow and march on with you!!! #America #Leaders

Question for a keynote speaker I heard recently, who went on to talk about   ·      Profit erosion ·      Service and brand standards consistency ·      Training / onboarding issues. ·      Management not inspired or supported to deliver results As the list continued from ops into economics, I thought about clients I have worked with over the years. Some great operators and leaders! Successful leaders who understood these challenges, but didn’t quite have the resources to fully solution, knowing a substantial portion of the pie was still on the table £££ The biggest factor standing in the way of improving profitability right now- TIME to really understand the potential. TIME to deliver the solution Groundbreaking... i know!! But I see this all the time, and when operators really understand their position through :- ££ Optimisation and diagnostics which mean something &  People development aligned to challenges Great things really do happen.
