Leavenworth is a beautiful ski destination that reinvented itself as a Bavarian village. They also reinvented their transit buses with InductEV wireless charging. A few notes.. 🐮 A Design Review Board requires all new architectural features, from mailboxes to storefronts, to be approved in the Bavarian Alpine Theme, so our 300kW power cabinet ended up as shown. What do you think? ❄ If you look closely you can see the seamless 300kW ground assembly (blue) that powers the city buses through continuous 17hr blocks, sometimes in a foot of snow, and sub -20°C. 💪 This is the 3rd winter the wireless buses have been in service on this route, which is 37km away from the closest high-power wireless charger. BONUS: there's no local operator panel for resetting charge sessions, and the operator doesn't need to exit and reset the bus breaker, because our system detects & resets itself automatically, should there be an issue during a charge event. Stay tuned as we have several projects under construction and even more in development! 🍁

Modal filter alert! Creating direct routes for active modes and indirect routes for motor vehicles is a fundamental principle of truly multi-modal transportation planning. This is an example of a temporary modal filter that involved building an extra, temporary bridge. In the US a bridge needing to be closed to motor vehicles because of weight limits or maintenance issues can often be an opportunity to establish the existing bridge as a modal filter. But in a country that deploys modal filters very effectively to start with like the NL, they have largely already reduced extraneous through motor vehicle traffic along this route and have a more balanced mix of modes.
The iconic and well-used ‘Berlagebrug’ in Amsterdam had to go under renovation. The bridge was closed to cars and a whole new one was built just for bikes and pedestrians. WATCH: https://lnkd.in/eASvHwe2

Late last week, Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and officials from Miami International Airport (MIA) celebrated the inauguration of the latest glass passenger boarding bridge at gate H17, marking a significant milestone in the airport's ongoing modernization efforts. The unveiling of the glass bridge at gate H17 follows the successful introduction of a similar structure at gate D14 in winter 2022. With plans to introduce 62 bridges in the first phase by 2028, Miami International Airport is poised to become the leading adopter of these energy-efficient innovations among U.S. airports. Glass bridges not only offer a sleek and modern aesthetic but also provide enhanced comfort for passengers, reducing feelings of claustrophobia commonly associated with traditional steel bridges. Moreover, their streamlined surface and superior insulation make them more energy-efficient, contributing to significant cost savings in cleaning and temperature control. The boarding bridge is that critical first step a visitor takes into Miami International Airport and Miami-Dade County.

#innovation can be as simple as considering the basic needs of your main user groups and acting on them. The innovation can be as simple as the way you do things, service your customers or meet their needs. I recently posted about the lack of consideration for user needs and experience in UK airport restrooms/bathrooms/toilets. I seemed to have struck a chord with a few people and Roseanna (Rose) May knew I'd love this article from USA TODAY It's great to hear that the US aviation industry is considering how they meet the needs of the changing user groups in #restroom design. I do feel that there is one lazy comment in their about industry standards. If standard doesn't fit, challenge it! So when designing spaces like restrooms it's key to understand the following points: - who will use it - how long have they been without facilities - what will they be bringing with them (luggage, coats, children, etc) - will there be enough room to enter, navigate and leave - is the flow correct for the order of use - is the lighting correct for ambiance and hygiene - are the facilities functional, inspiring, understandable - do the facilities meet multi religious requirements without causing unrequired impact on users (wet floors etc) - are the hand dryers too loud, too powerful, too quick - does someone walk away relaxed or frustrated (in themselves, not related to their movements) And most importantly: - can the cleaners do their job adequately, without impact, to ensure a clean environment is maintained and the design is maintainable for a long period of time without looking dirty, messy, or cheap There is alot to consider. You can't video bathroom usage, so the next best thing is to replicate the wide range of users and the people mass levels yourself to understand the issues users come across. Can you do all this for your products? Can you innovate your service by walking in users shoes? Can you ask what basic changes could elevate the interaction experience with your company? Try it. Pick a customer. Walk their user journey with them. Listen to their feedback. Look out for the challenges they have to overcome. Then, do it again for a different user. And again. Only when you start to see patterns, or changes that could benefit the neediest of users should you go about making changes. Then test and test again. https://lnkd.in/eepRNtGF
During the redevelopment of Terminal B, we were incredibly focused on the design of our restrooms, a critical piece of the guest experience. Terminal B's restrooms were designed to reflect LGP’s vision for a 21st century terminal, emphasizing efficiency, cleanliness and innovation. We enjoyed speaking to Zach Wichter at USA TODAY as he explored trends airport restroom design. #PaxEx #Airports
