Alvis Washington’s Post

Allyship is active, not passive. It requires authenticity, empathy, and learning. Greg Cathey, thank you for being my ally - even when I’m not in the room!

As we approach the final days of Pride Month, I’m incredibly proud of the way Walmart is focused on belonging and allyship. I sat down with my great friend, Alvis Washington, to talk about the importance of allyship and how to approach meeting people where they are to create an environment of belonging. At Walmart we’re lucky to have our basic beliefs. Respect for the individual is a core one for me as I think about how to show up as an ally every day. Allies are crucial, and I never stop learning about how I can be a stronger one. I challenge you to think about belonging more intentionally every day too. Thank you for your friendship, Alvis, and for bringing your whole self to work every day.
