Writ has raised a $3.8M Seed Round Led By Gradient Ventures to Help Companies Better Use Data for Key Decisions! "For decades, data teams and the functions they support have shared a common mission without the tools to realize it. We're redefining how people work with data by using AI to eliminate manual work, uncertainty, and barriers to collaboration," said cofounder Adam Weinstein. Writ is focused on building out the product's core functionality alongside a set of industry-leading design partners and thought leaders. The company is currently providing access to key partners and intends to open a beta program later this year. We had significant inbound interest from VCs when we launched Cheat Layer back in April, winning #1 Product of the day on Product Hunt. The market was changing rapidly, and VC meetings take a lot of time, so I decided to focus on our north star metric and the product. I appreciate all the VCs who took time meeting with me then. Honestly that north star metric number is at 2--out of the hundreds of people I personally mentored pro-bono since the pandemic globally, maybe 2 of them have started successful businesses that are still alive. We can give you great metrics about MRR and retention, but the metric I really care about is still at a 2. I started Cheat Layer because I quickly became overwhelmed donating my time globally to help everyone, some of the most destitute people you can imagine who could only meet with me on a phone or at a library, and my friends who were struggling after losing their businesses. One now partners with the Seattle Seahawks for a Field to Table event, and another is a marketing agency that started selling exactly what was working for us. We got early access to GPT-3, we were the first to get approved to sell it for code generation besides Microsoft in 2021, and so we've had a lot of time to gain insight on this problem. Our thesis is we can build a team of cloud agents that lower the barrier of entry for SMB, and the market of people who could build businesses with agents is actually much larger than existing businesses. All that savings will help existing businesses wish they started with this. https://lnkd.in/eCFUsxxc We were the first startup to get approved by openAI to sell GPT-3 for automation, and in 2021-2022 we were the only startup on the planet before chatGPT to use GPT-3 for automation. I was free during the pandemic because I sold mapping tech to Standard Cognition, which helped them go from feet to inch accurate triangulation and launch their first store on Market st. I built that algorithm in 2011, with granted US and international PCT patents(https://lnkd.in/eKkbs8KK), in a startup co-founded with Halsey Minor, the founder of CNET, to revitalize horse racing through live 3D reconstruction. (we were likely a decade early). Cheat Layer is growing organically constantly now, so I can focus part of my time raising our seed round again. We just broke 38k MRR mostly organically, won several top ML gartner awards, and we haven't even started yet.
