I agree the goal is not to create immersive experiences or to use the latest technology for it own sake, but to leverage new platforms to deliver content in the most impactful way. In other words, we shouldn’t set a goal for an immersive experience rather, the goal should be to find the medium that will maximize the impact of meaningful content.
"Technology is neither necessary nor, for that matter, sufficient in itself to create an immersive experience. The experience of immersion depends on the content’s ability, possibly in combination with technology, and a physical (sometimes designed) environment, to evoke the feeling of being moved across time and space." An excellent read! @kasjahartig offers a good reminder of the unique value of museums and how we can leverage a variety of apporaches -- including technology-based immersive spaces -- to engage and transport visitors. My key takeaway: leverage digital tech to offer compelling content and meaningful stories from a range of perspectives, and incorporate as part of a museum's mix of public offering -- not only or always the star atraction.
